The sky is ominous. A strong wind blows off. Lightnings and thunders boom in the sky.
My Tags, the furry spitz is awakened and rushes towards me. He needs a little comfort as he is very afraid.
A few more minutes and heavy rain falls.
I like this weather. But Tags is not pleased at all.
Does your pet react easily to a weather like this?

The cat seems oblivious. I had one though..that was here when a tornado hit here. It had been preceeded by a severe thunderstorm. The cat was afraid every time it stormed after that.

Most dogs and puppies do this, so do children. There is a reason behind it too. They simply don't understand what it is at all. They hear this thundering loud noise, see flashing lights, and feel downpour... they can't help but think of it as something threatening.
I have a few suggestions to calm down your pup though. It's the thunder that rattles them somewhat. Their ears are really sensitive. So, during such thunderstorms, try to provide some background noise such as TV or music to drown out the storm. Stay close to it and even feed it yummy treats. It'll calm down fast.
