One serving (one tablespoon) of peanut butter on a slice of whole wheat toast contains about 170 calories. Peanut butter is high in protein but it's also high in fats and most peanut butters also contain added sugar and salt. Some research has shown that eating nuts before a meal can help to reduce the appetite, which means that one would be inclined to eat less.
The only REAL way of losing weight is to make sure that you have a balanced diet which contains a total calorie count which is less than your total calorie requirements for the day. In other words, either eat less or exercise more - or both - and reduce your intake of sugars, starches and fats. Also, it helps to eat starches with a low glycemic index and foods with a good amount of dietary fibre (such as oats) in the morning because this kind of carbohydrate takes longer to process and therefore provides a controlled release of energy through the day.

I don't have any idea about peanut and weight loss. But common sense tell me peanut is making one fat.
Do you really try to weight loss. then have your dinner at 6 pm then do not eat anything next day until 11 am. Morning have some vegetable juice (no tea, coffee, fruit juice etc), preferably ash gourd juice. After drinking the juice then give 2 hours gap and eat fresh fruits at 11 am (or light food). Try it for one week and if there is any difference then follow it until you reach the goal.

Peanut butter is high in protein and fat. But, when we consume, I suppose, we should do enough exercise as well.
