Ate at Frankie's

My better half loves going out to eat, me not so much but today he wanted to go to Frankie's and we did. He asked the waitress all about where she is going to college and her plans after graduating. He loves to talk to everyone and they love telling their life story. We ordered spaghetti and salad with garlic bread and it was delicious. Driving up the road I saw that gas prices have dropped quiet a bit. Price at all gas stations was 2.49 except Chevron which is always more expensive than other gas stations. They are charging 2.79 per gallon. We never buy gas there. What's the price of gas in your community?

Our petrol is $1.49 a litre but it's really hard to convert to your prices as our gallon is a different volume to yours. My husband loves talking to people too.

@JudyEv July it is about 5.64$ per gallon, we pay a 5.90$ per gallon here. They complain in the USA and it is ridiculous if you think what we pay.

In simple terms, I always use 4 liters per gallon, although in reality is it slightly less (3.78 to be exact). But for estimating purposes, 4 liters to a gallon is easy to remember. So basically, your petrol will cost a little less than $6 per gallon.

@moffittjc So everyone in the US should stop complaining. (That's meant to be a joke!)

I read in the paper gas prices are going higher. I told my better half that e should stop and put in a gallon every time we used a gallon and have a little ahead when it goes up.

@crazyhorseladycx That would be the thing, but no we can only buy what the gas tank will hold. Can you no longer do that?

Our gas prices are $2.59 at the lowest station and as high as $3.00 at the ones we won't go to.

The price of gas is a lot more expensive here in Europe, different from country to country, but not a lot. Switzerland is not the most expensive, we pay $ 5.90 per gallon, in Italy is a bit more expensive.

@RubyHawk We go grocery shopping once a week and the grocery stores are all no further than 2 to 5 miles from home. A full gas tank lasts for 2 months and a half.

We don't drive a lot but if gas were that high here, we'd have to cut back further.

@LadyDuck Our grocery stores that we usually shop are only about three blocks away but we also drive to doctors appointments, the park and other places. I believe we fill up about every month and sometimes more often.I have two doctors about 25 miles away.

About gas, I have no idea. I have not had a car in ages. When you mentioned eating out I remembered how much my mom and I used to love eating out. I could not go every week but perhaps I will treat myself at some of the cheaper places in town a couple of times a month.

I always find it amusing that the cost of living in California is so outrageously high. I can't believe you pay so much more for the exact same products as the rest of the country!

@Rubyhawk it’s a lot more expensive here but hard to put a figure on it since we work in Pounds per litre rather than dollars per gallon and it’s too late for me to do the math! All I know is that it hurts my wallet.

@RubyHawk I would too or go lower. It helps my budget. I saved $5 when I filled up a few days ago. I budgeted $25 per fill-up and this last time was only $20.

@just4him We usually watch for the cheapest gas and fill up when the tank is nearly empty. I would stop often when gas is cheap but my better half will wait til the tank is almost empty.

@RubyHawk I do not have a car. I have an electric mobility scooter so do not need gas. I charge it all the time at home. He sounds like someone people can talk to very easily.

@RubyHawk I think if people need to get around and do things a car is good for that. I have a basket on the front and back of my scooter to put things in and also put things where my feet are and still have room for me to drive.

Right now it's about 3.41 a gallon. It was going way up to $4 near $5 almost! I gasped for when gas prices go up so do bus fares!!!(I secretly pray for lower gas prices so we can keep our bus fares reasonable.)
