We arrived back in Western Australia from our overseas trip on a Wednesday and the following evening we had our first visit to the relatively new Optus Stadium.
Connecting the stadium and the Burswood Peninsula to East Perth and the Perth CBD (Central Business District) is an elegant, undulating pedestrian bridge. With its slender profile, it offers safe passage to both pedestrians and cyclists. At its highest point, it is 72 metres high and stretches 370 metres from bank to bank. The arches are lit every evening and create a spectacular sight.
The bridge has been named the ‘Matagarup Bridge’. This is an indigenous word meaning a place on the river where the water is only leg deep so it can be crossed at that point.

One of my best friends, when I lived in Bangkok, was from Perth.

@JudyEv — one of the commentaries said the design is of two swans. You have to be on the river to see that, but I do see it.

@FourWalls I thought the official photo showed the whole thing better. The height surprises me.

It's pretty snazzy, isn't it? Some say it looks like two swans.
