Do you like your showers cold, medium, or HOT? (Am I a closet heroin addict?)

I've always liked spicy food, and I eventually learned that when we eat spicy food, it leads to the release of endorphins in our brain. Endorphins are our body's natural opiates, and they bind with the same receptor sites in our brains as Vicodin and heroin. Endorphins reduce pain and give us a feeling of calm and well-being.
Yesterday, as I was in the shower, I realized I like my showers as hot as I can tolerate, even if the weather is warm. As I was soaping up my left arm pit, I wondered if really hot showers lead to the release of endorphins in the brain as well. This morning, I Googled it, and the answer is yes.
Some people are adrenaline junkies. They like climbing up dangerous cliffs and jumping out of airplanes and such. I am not, and do not. But I may be an endorphin junkie. How do YOU like your food and your showers?

It depends on the time of year. In the summer I enjoy cool showers.

@louievill Oh oh. Be careful! Heh. Actually, I think doing things that leads to the release of endorphins is healthy.

@TheHorse — I like Chuy’s salsa, too. Best sinus medicine I’ve ever had!

I like spicy food, I cannot take too hot showers (not baths), because of my hearth problems. Also my husband has been forbidden to take hot showers and baths, no problems for the spicy food. Dark chocolates also releases endorphins in our brain.

I don't like showers, much prefer baths, but if I have to have one, I want it hot to combat the wind the falling water causes...

@TheHorse You've never noticed the rush of the water causes wind?

I definitely love spicy food. I'm only a mild adrenalin junkie. And I like taking cold showers, strictly because it's like 12,000 degrees outside here in Florida right now.

@TheHorse I'm lucky I work at a pool, so I get to swim everyday. And we cool our swimming pool water using geo-thermal technology, so it's nice and cold, which feels great after being out in the sweltering Florida heat. Otherwise, I would have just melted like a crayon under a magnifying glass by now.

I like it hot and spicy and my baths hot. I shower but not as much as I take a good scalding hot bath.

I like a little spice, just not too much. However I do like scalding hot showers and baths...but when I swim I prefer cold water.

@SophiaMorros Heh. Good one! I feel the same way about running. Unless I'm chasing a ball. But those other activities count. I like kayaking but don't get to do it that often.

@TheHorse if you see me running you probably need to kill whatever is chasing me.
But I do walk, and cycle, and swim, and kayak...

@Starkinds What is cold weather by your standards? I enjoy cool days. And I enjoy Midwestern Winters. But when it's -20 F outside, I stay inside. That doesn't happen where I live right now.

I like fairly spicy food, but warm, not hot showers. Some of those endorphin inducing activities are fun. One of our grandsons eats the hottest food imaginable.

I used to like spicy food but now, I get an upset stomach or canker sores when I eat them. Maybe Korean dishes are too spicy for me. And, yes, I like hot shower even if it's summer lol.

I did not know this about the spicy and the release of hormones that give a feeling of fullness in the body, I will become Mexican immediately and I will make a habanero pepper every 2 minutes! I need to be happy by force! hahahaha and "Orale manito"!
