When things stop working

I had one of those weeks last week where my technician tried everything to fix my printer that I had for many years but he could not. Now, I am without a printer till he orders one for me and brings it and now we have lots of Jewish holidays coming up so not sure if I will get it next week or not. I really need a good working printer. All the ones I had before were horrible and the company does not know how to fix them and yesterday my landline phone stopped working so had to go get a new one. I hate when those things happen all at once.

bless yer heart, hon. i can relate'n the printer end 's my ol' printer bit the dust some time back. my sweet momma'n aunt thought 't kind to purchase me 'nother 'n 'twas not worth the taxes they paid, much less the cost 'f the printer. printed 4 pictures 'n such ran out'ta ink - the cartridges cost $40 each! went fer nearly 5 months without. finally broke down' bought me'n epson that bottle fills, not cartridges. prints beautifully, scans 'n way cheaper'n the ink.

@Hannihar i'd'n hp fer many years 'n such 'twas quite the workhorse. printed beautiful photos 'n 'twas not'n ink hog. the hp momma 'n the aunt bought sucked't like nobody's business 'n 'd poor print quality.
the epson 'tis provin' to be very good 't all printin', e'en my highest quality print photos come out beautifully. 'tis the original ink, jest comes'n a squirt bottle where's i can refill the bays myself versus buyin' cartridges.

All the printers I bought before the one that just broke down did not work and so sad this one broke. I had it for a long time. I had an Epson and it was horrible. I buy only original ink. I am glad you have one you like.

The one that just broke is HP and had it for many years and the quality was great. I bought an Epson once and it was horrible. I am glad you are happy with yours.

Oh boy that is really bad that you have equipment not working with you. Lots of work are delayed because of that. I have a problem with my internet at home where the access is intermittent. I tried asking for help in their customer service and they check but they did not have any solution to it since when I disconnect with it, it would not connect to the net anymore.

I use my printer all the time and now being without it is very hard. This one I had for a very long time and I guess it had enough.

I know what you mean about holidays. Here in Japan you might as well forget getting anything repaired during Golden Week (Apr. 29-May5), Obon (about Aug. 10-17, not really specified but a week in there) and Oshogatsu (Jan. 1-6). Good luck if you get sick during those holidays too, because doctors' offices close and you have to find which office is doing the emergency holiday duty on that day. Electric things like computers-- well, you will just have to wait.

You have a lot of holidays too. Our holidays start next Sunday and we have a few of them right after another. The end of October we will finish with these and then our holiday of Hannuka is in December. My technician ordered it and he will let me know when it is ready.

I do technology for a living, so when techie things break I have to fix them!
What gets me is when my car breaks. I just have no clue what to do!

When your car breaks do you have a good mechanic to fix the problem. It must be frustrating since you can fix other things and then when it comes to your car you cannot fix it.

I got a new printer today. I like it. Our Jewish holidays have nothing to do with Christmas. We have a holiday in December called Hannuka when you have Christmas. Our holidays go by our Jewish Calendar and do not fall on the same date each year. Hannuka lasts for 8 days and we eat jelly donuts and light a Hannukia for 8 days. What I am talking about now are our holidays that start Sunday night. It is starts out with our Jewish New Year. The following week is our Day of Atonement and it starts in the evening and lis the next day. All of our holidays start in the evening. We fast about 26 hours or more on our holiday of Day of Atonement called Yom Kippur. We atone for our sins. In October we have our last set of holidays and we are finished with them the end of October and then have nothing till December. We do not work or write or talk on the phone on our holidays except we have intermediate days for the last holiday in October where we can do things and I can be on the computer and watch TV. Tonight starts our Jewish Sabbath and I go off the computer before 6 pm tonight and tomorrow is our Sabbath Day and will not be here at all and will not be watching TV. I will be on our porch if the weather is still nice reading. So hope that helped you understand something about us. I believe in the G-d of the Jewish People. He is not a man.

Yeah when things that you use regularly break down it is frustrating.

@Hannihar - Oh, my goodness! It is so frustrating when our technology makes our lives more complicated, instead of easier. Sometimes I think things were simpler when we did not have all these devices in our homes (I say as I sit watching TV, with my phone by my elbow and my laptop on my lap! LOL)

@Hannihar - Yes, the Jewish woman I walk with every morning is out shopping this morning for all the food she will need for the holidays. She looks forward to cooking for these special times.

You are so right about that Deborah-Diane. Right now is not a good time for that to happen with our Jewish Holidays starting on Sunday.

It happens to me sometimes. Everything just stops working at once. I don't like how it makes me feel.

They do not happen all the time with one right after the other. Thanks and I hope I get a good one again soon.
