Where I got my flu shot isn't too bad. It is a bit red and sore but the same as it always is. It will go away in a few day. The right arm where I got the pneumonia shot is red and swollen and even my cloths rubbing on it is very painful. I can only lift my arm half why up before it gets too painful. I am also feeling achy and sore all over, chills, headache and nauseated. No fun working this way. It says the effects will last a few days so I should be feeling fine by the weekend.
It is worth is though because if I were to get pneumonia with my heart condition and lungs problems it would not be good. I would much rather suffer the pain now then have to fight for my life again.
For those of you who get the flu shot/pneumonia vaccine do you ever have any side effect?

I never got it before of heart attack and surgery but now I can't risk getting sick. I had the flu once really bad and I never want to go through that again if I can avoid it.

@Happy2BeMe oh okay so they are more important for you then others your age due to your heart and lungs problems. I hope you feel better from it soon but definitely better a little discomfort now then dying from the flu or pneumonia

It is usually only give when you are 65 and you only get it once but because if my heart condition and lung problems they recommend I get it and since I am not 65 I will have to have it again in 5 years.

Pneumonia is a serious issue. When my niece had it last year, she stayed in the hospital for 9 days.

@Happy2BeMe seniors here are advised against pneumonia although the vaccine is not popularly accepted by the public.

@Happy2BeMe It is probably more potent because it is usually a one time only vaccine.

I never use to get them until my heart attack and open heart. Since then I just can't take the risk of getting sick. My heart could not handle it.

Thats I wouldn't get them but they are recommended because of my heart and lung conditions. I never had them before I had my heart surgery.

I have never had a problem with the fly shot. That arm feels completely fine. Sorry you have had those problems. I can understand why you would be hesitate about getting it done again.

I can still feel where I got my flu shot a couple of weeks ago, but it only hurts if I touch it. There is no bruise or anything.

are you left or right handed? if right, that would be very inconvenient.
did you start getting both shots after your heart operation?
