It's Cooking and Baking Time!

Hello everyone! I've been busy today trying to catch up on chores and get the cooking started around here so the next couple of days won't be so frantic.
We are going to my cousin's house tomorrow night to have early Thanksgiving dinner with them. She won't have her kids (divorced) on Thursday so this is her family dinner. Then on Thursday we are traveling to my oldest daughter's house in Lafayette, La. for Thanksgiving dinner. We decided to make it a late lunch and dinner combo to make it easier on both of us.
So I've been busy today starting to whip up desserts and catching up on laundry. Laundry is a never ending chore!
Today I tried out a new recipe. It is a dessert recipe that is similar to cheesecake but it is not. It is made and chilling in the refrigerator right now. The only thing I have left to do is put the cherry pie filling on the top.
Tomorrow I will make a roux and fix some English peas. This will complete my contributions to Wednesday night's dinner.
I have to make a cake and brownies for Thursday. Other than that, I'm bringing rolls. I may put a loaf of bread into the bread maker if I have enough time.
How is your Thanksgiving dinner coming along? Are you starting to fix things in advance or waiting until early Thanksgiving morning?

My brother always hosts us all. I am basically in charge of all things cranberry. I made some quick bread that has brandied fruit in it. Basic cooked cranberry sauce, new recipe--cranberry chutney and new recipe--cranberry-apricot cheese ball that I rolled in coconut. I will make another cheese spread and some muffins for breakfasts.

I make a good peach couscous cake which is like cheesecake but with couscous instead of cheesecake! I'm making some blueberry muffins tomorrow for my Mum to take to her house group. Yum!

@sharonelton Couscous is so versatile. Tell me more about this? I made a chocolate black bean cake once. Kind of heavy but edible.

@sallypup Oh, it was easy. I cook the couscous ( it takes seconds), put it in the bottom of a round pie dish, then put sliced peaches on top. Next I boil some apple juice, put a bit of maple syrup or rice syrup in it, add agar agar flakes, stir until they are dissolved and then pour that over the peaches and couscous. Put it in the fridge to set. It sets like jelly. Delicious!

I have a simple life, I'm making spaghetti on Thursday. I'll open a can of sardines to share with the kitties and Ally will get her favorite treat, chicken strips. I'll probably gorge myself on the spaghetti cuz I love that stuff. Hmmm, I haven't had pizza in years, maybe I'll order one for Thanksgiving.

A cheesecake but not a cheesecake? Is it healthier than cheesecake?
I am bringing Dressing for the family Thanksgiving, and I've considered whether I want to bring Pumpkin Bread.
I'm also doing Friendsgiving (maybe, as it might end up not happening). I'll bring a cheeseball and an oreo dessert to it.

@TiarasOceanView Thank you! I enjoy cooking and/or baking when not rushed. That is one reason I wanted to get what I could do in advance done today!

I would be in an absolute panic if I waited until Thanksgiving to start cooking!

@kareng No, I missed out! It was all gone! I think I'm going to have to make my way over to the grocery store and buy a pie or two to eat all by myself!

We don't have Thanksgiving so I am eating my usual lunch and dinner. I made up a pot of stew for lunches and I've been enjoying toasted cheese on bread for dinner.

You sound like you have a busy time ahead of you but with a lot of family fun! We will start making a couple of things tonight (Wednesday). A frozen pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes and some turkey legs and thighs are the only things we have to make. The rest my husband will pick up this afternoon at Giant Eagle Supermarket, precooked.
