A December Miracle

Hi friends! I know I have been absent for awhile, but the best thing has happened. My dad is now in a nursing home. He went willingly. I apologize if I sound mean, but if you've been reading for awhile you already know the story. If you haven't been reading, well , to summarize - dad has always been a hot temper and for as long as I have known him he's had back pain. I think I remember being a little kid and describing my mom as a homemaker and my dad as having a bad back. As he ages both his many mental illnesses and his pain and mobility worsen. He likely has a form of dementia now too, and frankly hasn't been able to do hardly a thing for himself for the past 6 months. My mom starts chemo in January. Her images are clear - which is the most important thing, but her bloodwork is high. So this is preventative. However , she really couldn't take care of him anymore, it's a strain for a person in prime condition, much less someone who has health issues of their own. So he now has a guardian to insure he stays at the nursing home where he is safe. He doesn't see it this way. But it is what is best for him and for everyone else, too. I can't begin to say how thankful to God for this miracle. Prayer works. I now know that things will be alright. How are all of you? Happy and blessed I hope. Photo: Pixabay

Thank God! I am glad he will get the 24/7 care he needs and that you and mom get them 24/7 you deserve. No it doesnt sound mean, no one knows how hard it is to deal with this until they have to do it.

I agree. Most people are inclined to believe the movie story or stories in novels. While some children are bad, this is not such a case. Really bad ones would have killed the parent or physically abused them turning them into whimpering person.

We’ve spoken of this before, and I am happy your dad is in a place where he will receive the care he needs. Thank goodness your mother will receive the care she needs, too. My prayers are always with you with more on the way. You have all had such a tough year, and I hope 2020 will bring you good health, peace, and happiness.

Going through caring for my mother who was diagnosed with ALZ a few months ago, I rejoice in your news. This is getting hard taking care of my mom and I fully understand the battle you had with your dad. Prayers for your mom and her battle with cancer. I hope the chemo works!

So true, it is way too much for one person. I noticed that they have 2 people and sometimes a lifting device to move him around. For some reason it makes me feel better to notice that. The picture is so pretty isn't it? I found it on Pixabay :-)

So true. They do try and have activities, usually 2 or 3 things during the day for residents to keep active. There is a nurse there that gets along with him well. That said, he isn't happy being there. But then he wasn't happy at home, either..... This is for sure, the best :-)

It's good that your Dad has found a good place which will take best care of him. This would be a big relief for your mom and she can go for her treatment with a free mind. Keeping your parents in thoughts and praying for a healthier year for them.

@FayeHazel Any change and especially when we go away from loved ones takes time to settle in. But this is safe and that matters. Thanks for your new year wishes.
