Some of you have asked about the casualties of the recent tornadoes in Nashville. The news is still coming in. It will take days to know all that has happened.
Businesses and many homes have been destroyed. Families and children were killed as well. The tornado damaged or destroyed homes, businesses, schools and churches across four counties. Tens of thousands of people and businesses remain without power Wednesday.
Among the dead are at least 5 children in Putnam County.
One story that got to me was an 84 and 82 y/o couple were sleeping. They slept through the tornado, did not survive and their house was destroyed.
I had a friend that lived in the neighborhood above, thank goodness her house was not touched.

It caught everyone unawares it seems. I heard about someone who was up on the top of a building in what looked like one of those things that painters use...
I hope they can find those 50 or more people soon, and that a lot of them have survived.

@CarolDM I think that they should develop some sort of technology that alerts people even when their cellphone is not on. I know that there are weather scanners / radios, we used to have one of those, but not many people have them anymore. There should be some sort of app for wearable tech that will alert people. I think it would save a lot of lives.

@ScribbledAdNauseum There are alarms outside but if you are sleeping you often do not hear them. It happened at 12:30-1:am.

It was terrible seeing this on the news and so sad to hear of the loss of life as well as the destruction. Your friend certainly was lucky.
