The time to watch news: freaking over New York.

Good morning, friends. It is now so wonderful that we can interact with each other without touching each other. Thank you, mylot!
I am watching now the shocking news about the US. The country could well become the center of the pandemics, with the difference (in relation of Wuhan or even Europe) that there is knowledge now about what each of us must do.
I just saw pictures of tourists in New York, waiting very near each other to get tickets for Broadway. Why don´t they go home! Yet the Governor says one thing and the president says another.
Is life or economy more important? Nobody can take his money to the coffin. And if there is a big recession the relation between money and goods will change.
See you at notifications. From my quarantine, and with a cup of coffee, here I am. Old, with low defenses and several ailments, I am not interested at all in getting the virus or transmitting it. Life is beautiful!

@mayguicha It’s unfortunate if your holiday is spoiled, but how much worse if you lose your life ? People really need to stop complaining and get their priorities right.

They went for their holidays before this started and now they can´t get back in some times. Others are plain stupid.

@marguicha Woman on radio here phoned in complaining that she couldn't get home from Spain. Presenter asked when she went to Spain - the day after the public were told not to travel! Presenter asked WHY? No answer

@Bensen32 I hope so. The only thing I really believe is that the people with power (everywhere) and the media are trying to create more panic instead of educating the population.

@marguicha It's the spin on the story they want you to believe that it is happening right now and that just is not the case.

Well, in some places, people do not easily follow the state and central guidelines, and then too strict things like total lockdown or curfew has to be imposed.

Fake news concerning the picture. There are no Broadway ticket sales because there are no Broadway shows as they are indefinitely shut down. There are no tourists because there is very limited travel due to extreme restrictions and nothing is open. The world in general hates the US so now the opportunity is being seized to paint the US as a villain threatening the world. Don't you or anyone forget this is all on China.

What do you mean with your last sentence? I don´t hate the US. And I don´t hate China. I have no patience for stupidity though, or for racism, or for bigotry. We have a lot of Chilean people stranded in the middle of nowhere because frontiers have been shut.

@JohnRoberts Governments are guilty, yet the people are innocent. It happens with ALL the countries, yours included as I have seen. Just read what the CIA did the the countries in South America in the 70s. It is declassified now.

@marguicha Too many people in the world are criticizing the US during this crisis and forgetting that China developed this virus and allowed it to escape. It has nothing to do with bigotry but the fact that a particular government, the Chinese, needs to be held accountable for creating a virus that threatens the world. The Chinese people are innocents but not their government.

Interestingly, the Broadway shows have all closed down. There are some that have been videoed and are being offered online.
As for our President, I will avoid comment on him, but I relish in the understanding that the governors of each state can ignore what the president says concerning when the isolation period ends. And I am sure that those hardest hit will keep things as they are for a while. The people here are divided on whether to believe the President or the medical experts. Personally, I will follow medical advice before I believe anything our president says.
My son is recovering from the virus, it is possible my oldest daughter now has it, we do not know, she is watching her symptoms and fever and will call in if things start getting bad.
2020 has already proven to be an interesting year, It promises to become more so in the near future. BTW, my wife and I are also in isolation, mandated by the governor of Oregon. Trying to keep busy and taking neighborhood walks when the weather permits.

As your president is not a doctor, there is no reason to believe in him. Besides, this is not a matter of faith so we mush try to avoid getting infected. PERIOD. I watch TV, read some, clean some and mylot. I pay phone visits to my friends.

@marguicha We stay home pretty much. We took a walk today and ran into some friends. Had a nice discussion with everyone at least ten feet apart. And yes, using phone calls to keep in touch with family.

The economy is important because the hospitals need money and supplies. On the other hand interacting less is important because the virus could did out without infecting others. We need a balance so people don't run out of money or have to close their businesses.
