I finally was in the right time at the right place.
To get my first shots of a owl. this is a Barred Owl.
there were actually two of them in the tree. but the other had his back to me and so could not get a good shot. But this little sleepy guy looks cute!
I hope at some point to get more. but truth is if it weren't for the other birders (bird watchers) that were all hanging around oohing and Aahing - I wouldn't have known they were there.
my next try is to get a CLOSE UP shot of a Bald Eagle.. i have gotten a bunch of shots. but they are usually a considerable distance away. i.e. across the river.. where even with my great zoom - they are not Super Hi Def pics.. so i keep praying I will find one on my side of the river and get a great shot. I saw two or 3 of them today.
I will keep trying.

@amitkokiladitya I think they are fairly common. many varieties. but they are only active at night and so many people don't get the opportunity to see them

Oh, I love your owl shot! It looks like he is mulling over some important question.
I am still only taking pictures with the phone or the iPad. I'd love to get a good camera and learn to use it. I have a lot of photojournalist and photographer friends. So I know I could get some good tips.
I'd love to see more of your pictures! Have a great day.

I encourage you to get a good camera. This Nikon p1000 and it's predecessor the Nikon p900 are amazing point and shoot (or Bridge cameras) with Incredible Zoom lenses. you can see so much you never dreamed possible! you can scroll through some of my other discussions for more pics or i have a bunch here.

Great shot! Looks like that owl is blinded by the sunlight. Here's a photo my friend took of a snowy owl.
