Some people will throw out anything

So, I was at the trash collection center earlier, where people bring trash and recycling. Someone was throwing out a beautiful, and totally undamaged large wicker hamper. I rescued it from being crushed in the compactor. Maybe it was a bit risky in today's Covid times, but I couldn't stand to see it crushed up, and I need to replace my own wicker hamper which has been Nicoed to death. When he was a kitten, he thought it was his scratching post I think. If he wasn't scratching it, he was trying to eat the wicker..bad kitty!

@snowy22315 Yes, if they didn't want it it could be given to charity.

Yes, I hate to see good things thrown away. One time someone was throwing away a hula girl lamp, that I made quite a bit of money on. Of course I felt a bit like Fred Sanford..(Sanford and Son, TV Show) but hey it was worth money.

@snowy22315 Some neighbors threw out a small round table. We placed it in the garage. I put over it one of the older table clothes and it has even been used once when one of my friendsĀ“ son got married. We put ot in the garden and it was beautiful.

@marguicha Yes, I don't get the whole throw it away mentality.

Yes, absolutely. It is very useful, and attractive too. Ssh, not telling anyone else I rescued it from the trash.

I also can't stand seeing perfectly good items thrown out. This includes items that are undamaged, and those that are fixable. I probably would have "rescued" it myself.
Anyway, you know what they say, one person's trash...

That is what they say, and for good reason! I was thinking that to myself as I was driving away as a matter of fact.

You wouldn't believe how much good stuff I see people throw out. I've rescued many items before from being thrown away. People get rid of some perfectly good stuff. I wish they would take the time to deliver it to Goodwill or the Salvation Army or something instead of tossing it by the dumpsters to be hauled away to a landfill.

I know, it's just stupid. Unfortunately, we seem to live in a throw away society, and yet people will buy any kind of crap on eBay! Go figure!

@snowy22315 I guess some people can't be bothered with the time to sell or donate their unwanted items.

Yes, people use to leave things outside for those who wanted them, and I have left a number of things myself, but now the county in their wisdom is not allowing that!
