No mail from Ireland

Our younger son lives in Ireland. He tried to send me a card for my birthday. I’ve since seen the card on the internet and it’s really nice with a loving greeting inside.
However, when he went to post it, he was told that, at the moment, there was no mail being sent from Ireland to Australia. He was a bit flabbergasted as were we. We think it might be because there are so few intercontinental flights now that there isn’t room for bags and bags of mail.
He was told the ban was only temporary but how long ‘temporary’ is, I have no idea.
The card showed some lovely proteas like the one in my photo.

When was your birthday? Happy birthday to you. Yes there aren't many international flights so things will be delayed all the time

@judyev He should have travelled north of the border and posted it here. The south still hasn’t opened up even to the UK so the demand for flights is very small. Anyone arriving from England is expected to quarantine so no-one is coming. However this border business of ours is now quite useful for circumventing things!!

He has no gigs at the moment so isn't travelling much at all. His wife is paranoid about the virus so they are pretty much keeping to themselves. But that would have been a good solution.

I think the Temporary thing could be quite longer- may be a few months.
That is a lovely photo indeed!!

Yes, and I feel that the lockdowns and restrictions all over the world could stay for another Year and a Half- sounding a bit pessimistic, but looks quit possible as of now.

Happy Belated Birthday Judy! I hope you still enjoyed your special day despite not getting the birthday card in the mail from your son. Thankfully you were able to see it online.

@JudyEv You said it. The most important thing was the fact that you were able to keep in touch with each other.
