I was piddling around in my fitbit app last night and upped the daily amount of steps I want to take. The recommended is 10,000 but I've challenged myself to take 12,000 steps per day. I also need to be active for atleast thirty minutes each day.
My fitbit will vibrate if I haven't gotten up to move and I love that it does that. It also let me set up which time frame of the day I wanted to take 250 steps or more and I just completed the first hours steps right now. I like that this is keeping me accountable.
I've been saying that I want to lose some weight so I can be healthier and this keto diet is already helping with that, I just need to do my part and get active.

This is the fitbit Alta HR. I don't know how much it costs because my friend handed it to me for free.

It definitely is. I've not been making the 12,000 steps per day, but I'm still trying. I think I might break it up and take three ten minute walks per day and then maybe one twenty minute walk too.

@Courtlynn I think it would. I need to get outside and do some walking too. For now I've just been doing all my steps inside.

I've got a fitbit but struggle to do the 10,000 steps every day, and even more so the 9 active sessions a day. I think age maybe a factor. Good luck getting 9/9 on a regular basis.

A lot of the walking I've been doing has been created by making extra work for myself.

I love my Fitbit especially the feature that it reminds you to get up and move.
Good luck with your increased steps
You can do it!!!

They are great gadgets, but they aren't fault proof. I do think they sometimes count steps I haven't taken. They are one of the best on the market though.

I use the Health app on my phone to determine how many miles I walk a day. I usually walk between two and 5 miles a day.

@Hkity1217 wow 8 miles in one day? That's quite a bit. I've seen lots of youtube videos of people walking 20,000 steps or more each day to lose weight. I want to try to stick with my 12,000 step goal but do it every day instead of only seldomly.

@ScribbledAdNauseum 5 miles a day is so great. I have done 8 miles before but that’s as much as I can go usually only do about two or three

Something I should have been doing a few years ago. I've been losing weight, but I feel like it might have been a little easier if I had done this a few years ago.

It definitely is but I think I can tackle them. I just need to walk more than just the 250 steps that are recommended per hour. I haven't done the math to see how many steps that will be though.
