1.8 lbs to go!

United States
November 2, 2020 8:35am CST
I weighed myself this morning. If I'm being honest, I weigh myself every morning though I know our weight fluctuates day by day. This morning after I entered my weight into my fitbit app it told me that I was 1.8 lbs away from my goal. That's just my first goal though as I want to lose a further 35 lbs. I walked this morning, though admittedly not as much as I had first intended. It was just too cold. I will make up for it by walking extra around the house. Yesterday I managed to eat under 20 carbs all day. I don't always have days like that, some days I eat around 50 carbs in a day. I am going to try to eat under 20 carbs at least twice per week now and see if that helps me with my second weight loss goal. It might seem counter intuitive to diet around this time of year (because of all the sugar laden, fattening foods) but I find that I don't crave those things at all anymore.

I hate to admit it, but I am in the Obese category. I'm inching towards the overweight category according to my BMI though. Just a few more lbs and I'll be in that category instead.

@marlina You are lucky you do not need to lose weight. If I continued to go the way I was going I would be very fat and I took a good look at myself one day and saw I hated being fat so I went on my journey.

I've lost around 30 lbs in total since I've started the ketogenic (low carb) diet.

I do not crave for garbage food and this is a good thing. I lost 14 pounds last year and I did not gain back one ounce, eating normally and everything I like, but nothing ready made from the stores and NO garbage food. I had gained those 14 pounds when I had to go to Milan for my Mom, I had to eat out twice a week... that was the result.

Lots of stuff here have garbage ingredients in it. Even the things labeled as "low carb" or "keto" have some ingredients that do not make them truly low carb.

@LadyDuck Corporations care about nothing but what will fatten their pockets. It's sad but true.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I know, this is why I buy nothing ready made, cheap ingredients are used to make more money.

You are right, I don't crave sweets, as I did before eating lower carb. meals. I love being able to eat whatever sounds good, without including unhealthy sweets and snacks! Congratulations, you are very close to your goal weight:)

I did not expect for my cravings to change so drastically. I am pleased that they have though! After eating those sweets at tea, my stomach started to hurt! Not bad, but enough to let me know that it didn't like the sweets! Thank you. I still have 35 lbs to go to get to my ultimate goal, but I am very pleased with what I've seen so far!

@kobesbuddy I do have some things that are sweet but they are keto sweeteners. Those I can tolerate more than regular sugar.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I didn't eat sugar for about 6 years. When I tasted it, the overpowering sweetness was offensive to my revised taste buds!

@Hannihar I will admit I was nervous about walking around because of the virus. I did a lot of my walking indoors before I finally decided to walk outside. I do not see a lot of people on my walks but I will cross the street to avoid them if I do. It was hard for me to give up things at first too, but it slowly got easier and easier. I don't crave sweets anymore.

@ScribbledAdNauseum You are very welcome. I know for a fact how hard it is to lose weight and keep it off. I finally did my own personal journey a little over 3 years ago and am proud to say I have given up stuff and can look at food and not want it now. It took me a long time to get to that point. I have lost lots of weight and never want to gain it back again. I hope I do not. Before this virus came into my life I did a lot of walking but now I am in a hurry to come home to my cat. I hate being out now.

Good for you. Keto is a good diet, but it was driving up my BP so I had to quit. Just plain ol' countring calories seem s to work for me...but it is slow. I cheat a lot.

@snowy22315 As long as you are losing and the diet works for you that's all that really matters. I think it's recommended to lose 1 or 1.5 lbs per week anyway when you are dieting.

I feel like I would do a lot of cheating if all I did was count calories.

@ScribbledAdNauseum You are on your way!! I did OMAD for around 6 months..that was one meal a day and it worked but stopped working..guess my metabolism adjusted. Anyhow I lost 20 lbs with it. Then I gained back 10 of those. Now trying to just watch calories somewhat but its hard just to lose back the other 10 I put back on.

@RebeccasFarm I have tried the 16:8 fast for a week and that worked pretty well until it didn't. I haven't yet done the OMAD but I really want to. Maybe you could count carbs for a few days on top of the calories and see if that helps? Might be water weight that needs to come down.

Congratulations! You can do research now to determine what kind of diet you will reasonably be able to do once the baby arrives. I once saw a video of a woman who was pregnant and continued to do workouts including ab workouts. A lot of people thought she was being irresponsible.

Well that is great work! Best of luck with losing the rest. I got a long way to go myself (almost 100 pounds ) But trying out different carb amounts sounds like a good plan. That's great you don't crave those things, that helps a ton!

Thank you. I've only lost a fraction more, but I'm going to keep walking and trying to get up and moving a lot more each day. I was close to 80 lbs over my recommended BMI when I started this journey. We will both get there. That's what I keep telling my closest friends too.. Our bodies are all different, but as long as we are losing, that's all that matters.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Well losing, even if it's slower, is good...and that sounds like a good plan to keep walking and such. Yes we will...just got to keep at it. Well in my case, get back on track lol

I lost a lot when I first started and then it stalled for a bit. I did the 16:8 fasting for a week and it helped kickstart more weight loss.

I don't weigh myself so not even sure how much I weigh these days. My mom and someone else I know told me I lost weight. That's flattering. But if that's true i wonder why I could not fit into a pair of jeans.
