Is your home country locked down?

Tomorrow England will go back to a lockdown. I am surprised schools won't be closed. The secondary school children will come to school with a mask. This will go over their nose and mouth. I have a friend that lives in Wales and they are not allowed to travel to England. On the radio I heard a lady was visiting relatives in Ireland. She got stuck there for months as she wasn't allowed to come home to Wales. It is unusual that I haven't been abroad this year. We booked a trip to the USA and the Caribbean however it was cancelled due to coronavirus.

There is no lockdown here yet we are facing the second wave of the pandemic. The President is expected to give a speech today and I guess he will be giving more stringent measures to curb the spread of the virus.

I am not sure lockdowns actually help. I believed it would. But I never bargained for defiance.

@Nevena83 You are right the numbers are increasing every day. At my children's school there is a year 11 girl or boy that has coronavirus. The school sent home all the girls and boys from that year group. They must stay at home for 14 days.

Lockdowns are not helping. Parents have to explain the issues it can cause and make children responsible about wearing masks, social distancing, and sanitizing. The financial implications have to be understood.

Vanny I heard on a financial expert's video that British people can freeze their credit card debts and mortgage. The person can phone their lender to ask. Social distancing is challenging for children. It is meant to be 2 meters.

@vandana7 Thank you Vanny for your excellent response to my discussion. The government of the UK sent banks letters to ask how they would feel about negative interest rates. If that happened I would close most bank accounts I own. Amazon is a huge company and a person said buy from small local shops.

@LadyDuck Yes, Italy has had problems with coronavirus. I heard Tom Cruise is in Venice making a new movie. You live so near to Italy. A few years ago we did a trip to Switzerland and Italy in the snowy winter.

@Hannihar I went to school for my disabled son and we were both wearing masks. This coronavirus is very seriously and it isn't easy to get everyone to behave. The government gets annoyed when people meet with a lot of others. I wonder when coronavirus will end.

@maximax8 I doubt that it will. The problem is that we are supposed to wear masks and social distance and our Prime Minister expresses that fact, but, to get the people to see the seriousness of this situation is another matter. There are those that do the right thing and those that do not and I really do not know how we can go back to normal with those not doing the right thing.

We have experienced lockdowns before but slowly the restrictions have been more relaxed. It's a big hassle for everyone but I hope it could really somehow make the situation better for your country. Here, sad to say, it's not as better as other countries' situation.

@jdbces I must remember to put on a mask however small the shop is. I nearly forgot when I went in a small petrol service station. There is a large mall close to the wheelchair center. Other malls are in the center of Bristol. Next week I will buy more masks.

@maximax8 Yes, it is better with the masks on. Here, if you enter some premises like malls or groceries, they would also require face shield. Stay safe!

We're having lockdown in areas with lots of cases only. Those area will be lockdown for at least two weeks. If the cases lower, then lockdown will be lifted. If not, it might continue for another two weeks or until cases go down. So far, my village has not been ordered to go on the lockdown, apart from the first lockdown which involved the whole country. Since the pandemic started we only have less than 10 cases. But we will still be effected by the lockdown from the neighbouring areas as we can't enter the area.

I see some areas have more coronavirus than the village that you live in. It looks like the authorities are helping the people stay safe. You can't travel to other areas in Malaysia so that is a bit of a challenge.

@maximax8 I suspect we will have a winner declared today. The state of Nevada should report in around noon Eastern Time and if they go to Biden, it could be enough to edge him over the magic 270 number. (This has to do with the electoral college, unfortunately, the way America chooses a president.) But with all the lawsuits, this could drag out for several more weeks anyway. No one gives any credibility that these legal actions will change anything but they are happening anyway. In my opinion, they are the acts of a desperate man who knows he has lost. But this election isn't finished until it is so who is to say, how it will finally resolve?

I feel that lockdown is necessary to save people's lives. I heard a man talk about how his wife caught coronavirus. Her chest went into severe pain and she had breathing difficulties. That sounds really horrible. Nobody deserves that do they. I see your home country has a partial lockdown. Thanks for your lovely response.

Hello M. I am having emails to say non essential shops are closing. Yes, people usually sit close together in a theater. Therefore it is better if they stay closed. If eating out the tables must have plenty of space around them.
