Last Overseas Vacation

We used to travel internationally twice a year and within the USA at least three times a year. Our last international trip had to be over five years ago. We went to Turkey. We lucked out getting in and out without being bombed. It is a beautiful country. We toured from Istanbul throughout the western half of the country along the Aegean Sea to the south and back through the center to Ankara and up to fabulous Istanbul. We enjoyed staying in an actual cave hotel, visiting a school, eating the delicious foods, shopping, hot air ballooning, and seeing the major sites including Troy. It was fun being in Europe and Asia the same day. When this darn pandemic is over, we are heading out to somewhere else we haven’t visited. Any ideas where we should visit? ~Photo of our beautiful hotel in Antalya overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.~

Why not Switzerland? You can bop in and see Lady Duck. Or I am sure Judy Evans in Australia would be glad to see you.

@DianneN If I start travelling again I really want to get back to Sicily, but I'll probably end up back in Paris as I nearly always do. Old habits die hard.

@DianneN I lived there for a year - first son was born there. Of course it’s a different place now.

Is there somewhere you haven't been before that you've been thinking about? Either in the U.S. or overseas?

@DianneN His loss, then. Honestly, I'm happy staying here at home. Traveling just an hour away for a day trip is taxing on me.

@MarshaMusselman Yes, Venice was one of my favorite places in Italy. We toured most of the country our first time there, then returned twice to stay in Florence and again in Montecatini, Pisa, Sienna, Lucca, and of course Rome. We vacationed in Oahu, Canada a couple of times, and Maui. Yes, we've been to Guatemala, too. I'm getting the travel bug just talking to you.

Such fond memories of Turkey! We haven't done a lot of far away traveling . . . but after this is over we'd certainly would like to see more of the world. I know you've been to many places, perhaps we should be asking you where "haven't" you been?

@DianneN That would be too cool . . . but better go quick before it all melts ! It'd be amazing to go there - especially in a new coat ! Ah, so you waited . . . well, I think we will probably end up doing the same .
