My Dinner Was Effectively Ruined

My wife never understands it. If I have lunch it is usually around 11 am to noon. MAYBE 1 o'clock. But rarely. We stopped off at Burger King at almost 2 o'clock, and took it home to eat. So it was probably about 215pm to 230pm that I ate my chicken sandwich from Burger King today. I planned on making a venison chili. But here it is 559pm and we normally eat at 730pm, and I can't even think about putting together that chili. So my dinner is effectively ruined. We will still eat. But it will be lighter. I think I will just make a batch of scrambled eggs in a little bit.

Shouldn't be ruined if you can eat scrambled eggs. Have chili another night.

Well, I guess what I mean is that chili is a process for me. It takes at least a couple of hours between prep and cook time. And if I am not in the mood to "eat" when I need to prep, I have a hard time getting the prep done. Prep is good when you are hungry and looking forward to the end result. But not so much when you're full and could care less. lol

I know the feeling. Didn't end up having dinner until a little after midnight because hubs was wide awake. Hoping that doesn't happen again, because he needs to go to work tomorrow.

Dinner is my biggest meal of the day, and the one I look most forward to. I hate when it gets ruined.

@porwest Dinner used to be mine, too. So I would have to agree there.

@porwest We always say, "The good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise." What all do you put in your chili beside venison?

@1creekgirl Usually I use a combination of pinto and kidney beans. And I also put in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, onions, salt, pepper, cumin, Italian, oregano, minced garlic, chicken broth... I added macaroni noodles as well since my wife prefers a chili mac over regular chili.

I hate when my food schedule is off. I never know what to eat when it is, and yes, eggs become an option.

So I guess it's a raincheck on that venison chili. Don't remember the last time I had Burger King.

Finally made my venison chili last night. It was really good. Yeah, I don't eat BK often, that's for sure. But I do like their food.

@lovebuglena I go back and forth. Sometimes I am in the mood for a Whopper. Other times I am in the mood for a quarter pounder. Just depends.

What's the big deal. Just skip the dinner. Between breakfast and lunch it is called brunch. Wonder what yours was called - eating at 2.15 pm (lol)

I am pretty sure it was scrambled eggs. But I just hate having late lunches. Whenever I tell my wife, "It will ruin my dinner," she accuses me of being five. lol

Scrambled eggs make for a perfect dinner for us. I always put goodies in mine like hot dogs, cheese, onions, sometimes mushrooms and green pepper. Just depends on my mood and what I have. I made the chili last night.

I think it's already late for lunch but better than skipping a meal. When the planned dish can't make to the schedule dinner time, you can make some quick dish for your meal.

That's pretty much what I wound up deciding to do. I made the scrambled eggs, and baked up some tater tots on the side. Yummy actually.

I like venison chili. I understand about the later meals, though. Hubby will do that to me. In fact we just ate leftovers around 2 pm. I need to eat so that I can take my evening meds, but do not feel hungry. He is going to make us grilled meat and cheese sandwiches at my insistence. I have tried to other than kitchen things today. I will make an egg casserole for us for tomorrow morning.
