From dead 'f winter to spring

United States

Howdy, folks! 'twas not my 'ntent to return here 's I aint quite finished workin' all my kinks out. But, @just4him said that someone'd e'en sent her a private message'n here regardin' my survival 'f this latest winter storm. Yepperz, we made 't! -31 (f) with windchill 'tis not pleasant. 6" 'f ice'n stock tanks 'tis not pleasant. Gettin' said ice out with aide 'f a sledge hammer'n sharp shovel 'tis not pleasant. Haulin' truckloads 'f jugs 'f water from town 'tis not pleasant. Wadin' through 3' snow drifts 'tis not pleasant. But, I aint complainin' coz 't could'a been so much worse. Today 'twas a balmy 70 degrees (f)! If'n not fer the wind, would'a been most pleasant. Sadly I'd not the time to 'njoy such 'n tomorrow 'tis to be a high 'f 42(f) with winds 25-35mph 's 'nother front moves this way. Thankfully not 'xpectin' this'un to dump ice/sleet/snow 'cross several states. No single digit'n below fer highs. Those'n south Texas can take a breath. Y'all need to hold those folks close to yer hearts 's they've been through hades frozen o'er 'n many're still sufferin' the 'termath - no water, massive water leaks (not 'nough plumbers, nor parts to be found coz such 'twas so vast), food/water/gas shortages. Seriously, the grocery store shelves'n many areas're barren. E'en worse than the hoardin' when the pandemic started. So, be kind to each other. Be patient with one 'nother. I'll come ridin' back through these parts some day, jest look fer the cloud 'f dust, listen fer the thunderin' hooves ~

I'm glad you came back to update everyone about what's going on. 70 is balmy. I can't imagine it for this time of year. Yes, Texas got hit hard with the storm. I'm glad to say my daughter and granddaughter are doing well.

I'm glad you all survived the fun, Crazy... I'm guessing you'd have said if your sweet mama was having too much trouble, right? We ended up with highs in the negative numbers for several days with ice/snow mix. Had 8 inches of snow covering everything, so we just stayed inside and hid from it all. You take care and we'll see you when you come back.

@crazyhorseladycx You should have left hubby there to take care of the critters and you and your sweet mother should have come here. I'd give up my bedroom to you two and slept on the couch. We've got tons of books and movies to read/watch and I'm sure we could've found something to talk about as well.

my sweet momma'd no power off/on fer a couple 'f days, but they managed through't. our utilities're much better prepared fer such inclement weather than the south texas panhandle. smallish rollin' blackouts here (e'en i recall correctly, the longest 'twas 'bout 6hrs) 's the electric companies here tried to send schtuff to 'em. ick'n the ice/snow mix. i've critters to tend, so've gotta sharpen my spurs to get'er done.

The world seems to be heading for extreme weather everywhere. I just saw some headings about the melting ice in Antartica and how that affects negatively on the Narwhals. (We are having strong winds right now. Happens more and more these days for some reasons.)

that ice's been meltin' fer some time, precursor fer what lies 'head. mankind's chosen (majority) to 'gnore such'n the science presented. the winds here've blown more oft'n not since january 2020. back'n severe drought status 'cross many 'f our western states. a pity coz we'd all not recovered from the previous long drought. mankind continues to waste precious resources globally, fer the sake 'f greed, not need. very disheartenin'.
