I Have to Take a Bubble Bath

My dear friend, Judy Story, noticed I didn’t say what I made for dinner in my last post. I had every intention of writing about it, but now I have to take my bubble bath and watch a movie with hubs,
Real fast, I made my first shepherds pie ever. I followed a “gourmet” recipe that I found online.
Hubs absolutely loved it! To be honest, it was better than I have had in Ireland and in Irish pubs and restaurants, even if I say so myself. I didn’t use ground lamb, but I did have organic ground beef and it was just dandy!
Have you had it? Made it? It’s on my list for delicious comfort food forever!

@DianneN My mini house has about $30K in it. I bought a cabin shell and my son-in-law worked on it about 80% and the other 20% was my son and I. I have been inside for about two years come May. Still don't have my walls done other than sheet rock and paint. Next month I'll begin the rest and going to try to do it myself. Wish me luck.

I like the American version with ground beaf. But it does sound good with whatever meat you use.

It's cottage pie
Shepherds pie is lamb and cottage pie is beef...over here anyway
I make cottage pie several times a month at work, hardly ever make shepherds pie which I should do more often.

@rakski here's how to make your own:
Basically you fry up some minced meat until it is browned, along with some finely chopped onion, then sprinkle on a spoonful or so of flour, cook for a minute or two then stir in some beef stock and stir until you get a nice thick gravy.
Then you set that aside and boil some peeled potatoes. Sometimes we also mix in other root vegetables such as sweet potatoes, carrots, swede or celeriac. When those are soft, drain them then mash with a knob of butter and some milk until it's nice and creamy.
Then you put the meat mixture into the bottom of a dish (that can go in the oven) and spread the potato mixture over the top. Some people also sprinkle cheese on top. Then bake it in the oven until the top is golden. Can also brown under the grill since all the constituents are cooked already.

Usually shepherd's pie is made with lamb (or mutton); cottage pie is made with beef. But basically you fry up some minced meat until it is browned, along with some finely chopped onion, then sprinkle on a spoonful or so of flour, cook for a minute or two then stir in some beef stock and stir until you get a nice thick gravy.

It's called pie, but it isn't made with pastry like many pies.
