Lately, when feeding my fishies their regular fish food, I've been telling them I'm giving them pizza or hamburgers. They don't care what I call their food, as long as I feed them.
The first couple of times I told them their food was human food Pretty came running out of her bedroom to make sure I was just feeding them fish food.
Photo is mine.

@May2k8 I'm sure. Cats are carnivorous. They can't digest anything but meat.

Is it my fault if she is listening from her room while I talk to my babies?

@stephcjh Before the downturn I had several tanks and was selling guppies, ghost shrimp and sword tails to local pet shops. After the downturn people stopped buying them so slowly sold off my stock and the tanks as I quit needing them.
Now, I only have one tank and have the guppies and corys in it.

I do silly things whenever I can. It is fun to just let it all loose once in awhile.

@TheHorse I had to do that once at work. It was... fun?... I ended up drinking what I could and throwing the rest away.

@DaddyEvil For my final bizarre act of the night, I will eat a bit of yogurt. With a fork. Things are exciting around here.

@DaddyEvil Speaking of which, lately I've been seeing crows munching over road kill . . . maybe they have always done that, but I've never seen that . . . a rare sight (to me) seems to be common now .
Are you serious - you give guppies all that stuff? That's so funny! Surely they love trying different things other than fish flakes .

@DaddyEvil The crows are like vultures !
Next time we get fish again, I'll have to do that. They are probably healthier too (real food vs what the heck are fish flakes). Ah, so you have more than just guppies there!

@much2say Here, crows fight with other birds for a share of road kill.
Oh, yes, it's good for them and they love it. You just have to remember that they can't eat real food as fast as they eat fish food flakes. So we let the slivers and bits of leaves float or sink and remain instead of taking it back out if they don't eat it in five minutes. They'll keep munching on the food bits all day long. Eventually, the cory catfish will take it away from them and finish it off.

They are always happy when someone pays attention to them. I can put my hand in their tank and they will swim around through my fingers and lay in my palm.

Pretty rolls her eyes at me when she catches me talking to my fishies. But then she walks past them and says, "Fishies, fishies, fishies."

Yes, I did, but it was funny! I didn't realize she could hear me talking to my fishies the first time it happened but then I did it on purpose the second time.
I'm sure he enjoys the tuna you add to his bowl!

@DaddyEvil That could be so. Does that mean you don't trust her? Or do you want the fish totally dependent on you?

@DaddyEvil They seem food adventurers, too. That's good. I never attempt to pet fishes because they will die under my care.

The food I give them is best for their growth and health. We do give them slivers of apples, peaches, lettuce or spinach once in a while because they love those things.

Sometimes when I feed the sharks, I pretend I'm a Bond villain. The sharks think it's silly, sometimes even the people soon to be eaten by the sharks think it's silly but it's not.

@xander6464 Mine were given to me by a friend in Australia. She shipped them to me through the mail. And didn't bother telling me she was sending them until I got them.
I had them for several years.

True, although we both have dropped slivers of apple or peaches into their tank. They seem to love fruit and some veggies.

@DaddyEvil I guess it depends upon what type of fish you have, in your tank. I never did a good job taking care of our fish.

@nela13 Pretty keeps telling them I'm not going to feed them and then ducks around the corner to watch and see if they climb out of the tank to reach their food themselves.

@porwest Maybe...
She goes around the corner into the kitchen and watches to see if they try to climb out. I've caught her at it! She swears she was just throwing trash away, though.

When my walking sharks were still in that tank I'd have done it and just watched all the fish eat it... but they passed away a year and a half ago. I only have guppies and corys in the tank now. It would take them months to eat a hamburger.
Pretty keeps going by the tank and telling them I'm not going to feed them just to see if they start climbing out to get the food themselves!
