Look what I found today

I’m decluttering. Today, I hauled down another box and found these two items, a little canoe and a pair of ear-rings. They were sent to me back in the 60s by a Canadian penpal. At the time, anywhere overseas was very exotic and I was thrilled with these small but lovely gifts. The label on the canoe says it is the work of Canadian Indians, secured through the Indian Affairs Branch, Department of Citizenship and Immigration, Ottawa, Canada. The notation on the ear-rings says ‘Genuine Copper’ And ‘Genuine Porcelain Enamel Inlaid by Hand, Fired Glass-Hard at 1600o Fahrenheit. Not to be confused with Laquer Paint. Our Enamelling Will Not Fade.’ I wonder what I’ll find tomorrow. Probably not much as we’re leaving after lunch to attend a horse endurance ride. It’s promising to be in the high 90Fs so I might be a grease-spot by Saturday night.

It is good to declutter from time to time, and the items look lovely. They have brought back some nice memories for you too. Do you still keep in touch with this penpal?

I'm embarrassed to say I can't even remember their name although it will probably come to me in the middle of the night.

Lovely earrings and a cool canoe. It's going to be 38F tomorrow; so winter has not given up its grip yet. Have a great day!

@JudyEv I don't know if I'd care for the high 90s; but it's still better than s**w. (Snow)

@JudyEv That one is the Thunder Bird a native American symbol that you often find in their jewelry. I bought a brooch because I never wear earrings.

@JudyEv I swear I just cause more mess whenever I go through my stuff, playing with old things, wearing ridiculous accessories I got at one point, the cleaning may not happen but at least it is a fun time haha

@JudyEv Yes. I love the design. Those are Canadian Indians - probably children with masks and wings. I love the color blue very much and the pythagorean geometric style.

Looks like we both are into decluttering. I did find a pair of earrings I bought in New Zealand - they are of Jade but they hurt me when I wear them. They are brand new and I just checked its price on the Net. It is around Rs. 6000/- I hope someone here will like it and buy it from me.

Beautiful earrings. I was also decluttering today and have found my sewing patterns and some clothes that I sew for myself in the 80s.

I found an old pattern today too. I remember when they came up with machines that could cope with stretchy T-shirt material. Before that, for some reason it was hard to sew such material.
