What had gone wrong? After one year into the pandemic, my country tallied the highest number of COVID-19 new cases yesterday. It is kind of alarming again that new cases reached 7,103.
People are out and about. When I first started my work back on-site (physical office) in November, there were only few people and vehicles out. As the days passed by, more and more people are out. No social distancing, faceshields are not properly used.

Some of our fellow Filipinos these days don't believe the statistics posted by our government (Department of Health) anymore. They insist that there is no more COVID! But only if and only when you become part of the statistics would you be able to say that COVID is real and is still raging

I heard that. The guard said "where are they getting the stats? There is no Covid anymore" while watching the morning news at work.

@jobelbojel That was when the mall was just opened here, nor was there anyone to keep their distance, all of them jostled to enter.

Here even going to the mall, no more distancing. Yes, they practice protocols like checking temps and sanitizing hands but outside the mall, bunch of people lined up not properly distanced to one another.

@May2k8 Oh no. That is something. There are guards or marshalls here but I wonder they don't look at their distances.

@jobelbojel Yes. What is strange is that more and more people are being vaccinated here, and that the number of patients is growing.

We can see from an economic point of view that they come back out and also carry out daily activities, namely earning a living like I did if they follow the health protocols given by the government I don't think it is a problem but if you don't heed it, maybe the grapics will improve even more.

Same reason here. Because I need to work, I went back to the office from work from home set up. Yes, the country's economy is down now.

Well India too seemingly had situation in control by February.
Yet starting with a few states, we had the situation getting worse again.
Some cities and states are again getting into lockdowns which affect many badly.
The next few days and weeks are very critical.

What I read in Time this week was alarming...
Critics say Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte is using stay-at-home orders during the pandemic to tighten his grip

That is what other people thought. They thought the president is using the pandemic to manipulate the armed police or army to watch over the entire country.

This is due to laxity caused by the introduction of the vaccines.

@jobelbojel Exactly my point. We can’t always blame the government though they have their own fault. But people should take their part as well and i can see most don’t.

@jobelbojel the number of people who got the vaccine is still small when compared with those that haven't received it yet.
