My husband flew planes several years ago. Quit when his flight school went out of business. He decided after that he needed a career change. This was ten plus years ago, well before COBID was a thing.

Oh, my, I would have thought flying is actually harder to quit, just to get your licence is really expensive, and once you're in the air there is hardly a coming back..
But anyway, before the pandemic I would assume was easier to switch between jobs. Depends on the country as well...

@MadFit Depends on the countery, period. Switching jobs isn't any easier pre or currently. Depends on the type of person you are, and how you come off to other people. In current times, employers would give an arm and a leg to get someone hard-working for them. But, are skepticle because of the fact that people will look for work so they can continue to collect extra unemployment. So, there's that.
Well, he had other reasons , too. Like his hearing and eye sight were starting to become affected. The flight place closing just gave him the shove he needed to do something else, instead.

@kaylachan I will have to disagree with "employers will give a arm and a leg for a hard working person"
Most of the jobs that I had, everyone was treated just like a number. If you would hand it your resignation they wouldn't try to stop you. Or bother asking why and do something about it..
Even people working in the same place for 10 years longer, with all the skills, no-one would care.. Which is very often demotivating to be honest

I have not changed my career and I am not planning to. But I have seen that skills like writing and editing are transferable in some way or the other.

I do not know anyone who has worked in aviation, but I imagine that you would first need some sort of qualification. Maybe you should start by going on a course to learn more about the industry.
