I’m Speechless

Had a nice trip into New Jersey Sunday to see our older son, daughter-in-law, and my babies. The drive was 1 1/2 hours each way. Grateful for navigation system. The second we walked into the house, we hugged and kissed, then our Ice Princess took us on the grand tour. I still can’t count all the rooms, but besides all the bedrooms, two offices, at least 5 bathrooms, dining room, huge kitchen, living room, family room, double see-through fireplace, library, a game room, 4 storage rooms, huge garages, nooks and crannies all over the place, etc., I found out the house is 100 years old! It’s been updated by its previous owners, and our son has been making cosmetic improvements little by little. It was our first visit ever, and I had no idea how huge and gorgeous it was. We are speechless! I took the photo and tried to squeeze the house in.

What a grand old house and surprise for you! I entertained myself finding out a bit about the history of our old house and the people who first lived here. It was fun. Our house was built in 1860.

@DianneN Yes! It was part of the underground railroad to sneak the slaves up north. There was a hidden walkway through the walls that has been closed up now. I am almost tempeted to tear it off and take a look!

Your house is much older. His was built in 1901. It was a big surprise to us. Had no idea. Your house must have some history. He knows a little of his home’s history.

Looks like two houses to me. So this is their house? What a grand house indeed! it means a lot of cleaning to them though they can hire someone to do that. Your hubs and son are in small details now

Lol. They do have 7 gardeners, a pool guy, and cleaning ladies. He and his wife are too busy working or driving the kids all over the place multiple times a day.

Actually, it’s larger than some homes on his street, but much smaller than the others in his neighborhood. Just jaw dropping!

I was imagining how they would keep that gigantic structure spotlessly clean. That would keep them busy 24 hours I bet unless they have found a way Eager to know what that way would be. And then there is the prospect of getting lost too

Trust me when I say that I got lost several times. They have two stairways to get upstairs. They have cleaning ladies, a pool guy, and 7 landscapers! The front of the house alone takes 3 guys.

@just4him I got lost several times. I’d still get lost. They have two staircases to get upstairs. I took the wrong one and had to go back down and up the other one to find my grandson. I called, but he didn’t hear me. Back down I went. I had to go down another staircase and finally found him. I think my son should install an intercom system!

@DianneN Do the dogs have their own room too? When was the last time you saw them? The fireplace sounds amazing. Are there any ghosts wandering around the house? I am glad you enjoyed seeing the house.

The dogs have beds in almost every room, but follow everyone around. They didn’t mention ghosts, so I assume the house isn’t haunted. I saw them and the dogs on April 4th when we broke Passover together here at my house. Thanks!

@DianneN Maybe the dogs like to sleep with one of them so do not like sleeping alone. My dog I had slept in the same room as me because I set it up that way. I wanted her close by too. You are welcome. So it was not so long along that you saw them.
