A bargain on canned tuna

I went to the Russian store for some things and left the store with three bags. I was passing the Duane Reade (Walgreens) pharmacy next door and wondered if they had canned tuna on sale. At first, I decided not to go in and check as I had three bags of groceries on me but then changed my mind. Good thing I did.
The canned tuna I eat (Bumble Bee chunk white tuna) was actually on sale. It was $1.29 each or 3/$3.33. It is usually sold for a lot more and especially in this pharmacy. I was definitely going to buy it. I got six cans, which added up to $6.66. But I also had $3 rewards on my Walgreens reward card, so ended up using that, which brought my final total to $3.66. That's 61 cents a can. What a bargain!
I sometimes get this canned tuna at the Dollar Tree for $1 a can, which is a great price, but this was even cheaper. I should've probably gotten three more cans.

@lovebuglena The expiry date of the canned tuna is 2025, I can store it for later.

@LadyDuck I’m sure you’ll eat it long before then.

That's great! Better to take advantage of the sale, even if you already have it at home, than pay more later when you run out.

@lovebuglena I bought 6 cans and therefore the shipping is free of charge

I've never bought canned tuna online. But if my brand was available and on sale I'd probably do it, as long as there was free shipping.

@youless that’s good! I hate having to pay for shipping. Sometimes shipping costs more than the item bought.

@lovebuglena that is a good point. You want to leave some for others as well.

I already had too much to carry. I also didn't wanna be the person who takes everything and leaves nothing for someone else.

@RebeccasFarm I figure if I want oil in my tuna I will just add a little bit when I prep it.

I tried this brand but I prefer Bumble Bee. And I only buy tuna in water. The ones in oil have too much oil in them.

Me too! One thing I don't like is rewards expire after a while if you don't use them. And I am also wondering why the guy took off $3 when I actually had $3.12 in rewards. Do they only deduct whole dollar amounts?

@MALUSE When I was checking out he told me I had $3 I could redeem. When I got home and looked at the receipt I saw that I had .12 cents that wasn't used.

Yeah. I was very happy about that. It wasn't that great when I had to walk home as I already had three heavy bags to carry since that added on to the weight. Thankfully, the wasn't very long.

I am always on the lookout for white tuna on sale. It is something that you can always turn to when you need a meal.

It's been a long time since I've last purchased a can of tuna. Most of the fish I eat these days is fresh-caught from either the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean. Living in Florida does have its advantages sometimes! lol
My girlfriend made seafood paella the other day, and she added in mahi-mahi, shrimp, scallops and mussels. It was amazing.

@lovebuglena If it was frozen immediately after being caught, and then quickly transported to the city, I would still consider that as “fresh fish.”

I bet it was really good. If only I ate seafood. No crustaceans, octopus, squid, or shellfish for me.
My mom shops at this Russian seafood store and the owner there told her there is no such thing as fresh fish in NYC. It is all frozen or defrosted. The only fresh fish would be if you go on a fishing boat.

It's always great to get a bargain. Our pharmacies don't sell food although they sometimes sell odd items that we wouldn't normally expect to find.

Bubble Bee tuna, especially the chunk white one, is never at this price usually. And I only buy this brand.
