I don't think there is any dish in India that we can prepare without adding onions into it and that's why onions are so much important in Indian household and when there is a rise in prices of onions the household budget does goes for a toss and large number of Indians like to eat onions raw too and there are dishes like Fried Okra, Scrambled eggs, cheese that require large number of onions. Do you Also like to add onions in all your dishes and have onions always available in your house?

@RebeccasFarm , I like to eat onions with garlic and tomatoes only. Onions increase libido, by that you can marry Bruce Lee.

@butterfingers When I cook, even if I don’t know what I’m going to cook, I always start by chopping an onion.

Onions are the basis of many sauces. Also good with hotdogs and great when fried as rings. We have the French to thank for onions in this country.

@Butterfingers I am not so keen on raw as the taste lingers longer than is wanted. No kissing for at least 6 hours.

My Grandparents are complete vegan and they consume only sattvik food (i.e without onions and garlic), so when we visit them we too eat sattvik food that doesn't contain onions, it tastes as good as normal

Yes we do add onion in every dish. It increases the taste. We don't eat onion when someone has a fast or during the month of sawan. So we can survive without it also.
