Do you remember your school teachers?

Once again, the photo has nothing to do with the discussion. We were talking about friends about past school teachers the other day and I wondered did you have an inspiring teacher when you were at school? Inspiring probably isn’t quite the right word for my English teacher but he did instil in me a love of English literature and of writing. My husband and I grew up in the same region. He lived in the town and went to the Catholic ‘convent’ school. I lived on a farm and went to the state (government) school. Vince didn’t always do his homework. Once he was asked to stand up and read out his composition which the students were supposed to have done overnight. He hadn’t written a composition but he opened his book and proceeded to make up a story, pretending he was reading it. When he finished his story and sat down, his teacher told him it was very good. She then asked him to go through it and count the number of times he’d used ‘and’. So she was a wake-up to his deception but didn’t put him down in front of the class. And she never did check up to find out how many ‘ands’ he’d used. What a kindly teacher she was.

I remember all of my teachers. Oh, that Vince! Vince’s “paper” would have been written on the computer and handed in to be graded if it happened in this day and age. She probably knew what he had done. Good woman.

She knew exactly what he'd done. She let him know she knew but didn't take it further.

I had one or two that really turned me off to school, but mostly I loved my teachers. Certain ones of them were very motivating to me.My hubby once made up a book to write a book report about. Did it convincingly I am told. He and Vince must have some of the same imaginative streak.

I would have felt much too guilty to ever pretend to read out something that wasn't there!!

She was a good teacher in how she handled the situation. My fourth-grade teacher was good and my fifth-grade teacher taught me fractions and decimals before I was inundated with 'new' math. I had just gotten a handle on it too. Math and I came to an agreement in college.

I do remember most of my teachers. Except for a few teachers not all were as inspiring as they should have been. Out language teacher were a very jovial one and we all students used to like her a lot. Let me confess, in my final high school days we had a teacher who teached us geography and I was infatuated by her beauty.... I never paid attention to her to what she teached but I spend the whole period just watching her. Hahaha I started loving her though she was a married lady

I still remember my English teacher when I was in senior high school. He is easy going and always smile person, however he is really strict to his students in terms of exam and assignment. What a nice memorable moment

There’s no way I could come up with anything like that on the spot so I think he did well. Nice the teacher didn’t punish him.

In one of my high school's year I had a nun that was really good to me and helped me a lot. Unfortunately, she passed away pretty young.

I have a very good memory and I remember them all, those I liked and those I hated too. The one I hated more, the teacher I had in my 5th grade, an arrogant young woman, I even remember very well her name.

Some teachers we really can't get on well with no matter how we try. And some simply don't care much about their students.

Some of my teachers were so awful that I know I will never forget them. However, we did have one very nice young lady teacher who was always trying to teach us about environmental matters such as pollution. This was back in the 1970s and she told us we should be very aware of the damage people were doing to our planet by causing pollution. Now we are are hearing about the effects of climate change , I often think about what this teacher was trying to tell us back then.
