Some more unusual chairs

On a recent visit to York in Western Australia, our busload of people had a very enjoyable lunch at White Gum Farm which also has an airstrip and a number of private planes. The ‘swimming pool’ was actually a dam but was nicely fenced and had a diving board and an area for tables and chairs. Being winter, the area was bare. The restaurant was quite elegant and I was intrigued by the chairs by the outside bar. They are made from old oil drums, have sturdy legs, cushions and the sharp edges are covered. I was reminded of comfy chairs we saw at the Bushmills Whisky factory in northern Ireland. The chairs were made from small barrels and fitted with cushions.

Those chairs are interesting. I remember I sat in old whisky barrels fitted with cushions and they were comfortable.

@JudyEv They seem more or less the same size. I am sure those are comfortable enough to sit there and enjoy a drink.

These are probably a similar size and they look comfortable to me although I didn't sit in one.

That's true. Some items can have any number of lives.

I have been to a few pubs where the chairs were made from old wooden kegs, or more likely reproduction kegs. Good use of steel drums, instead of ending up in a land fill

I've seen chairs from wooden kegs too - in Bushmills in Ireland for starters.

@JudyEv They are very different but I believe you have seen different things on your trip that you showed us. So, it is winter where you are now I take it? As long as they were comfortable then that was good.

@JudyEv Normally is the weather in Autumn nice or cool? I thought you were the opposite in weather from us. We are going into winter.

You're right, those are interesting chairs. (I wonder how much trouble they have with people picking the coverings off the sharp edges. That would be a worry to me.)
