Coffee Or No Coffee? That's the Question!

I have been awake all night long. I went to bed. I read for about 45 minutes before turning the light off and then tossing for another hour. I got up and cleared out my notifications and did a bit of reading here on myLot. Now I'm trying to decide if I want a cup of coffee before I hit the bed or just go get in bed. I can't decide but I think I'm just going to go right on to bed. Enjoy your coffee! I'll have some later when I wake up! Does coffee usually keep you awake? Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

Coffe usually doesn’t keep my wake I do drink a cup to two cups a day in the morning. Well one cup in the morning and one in the afternoon when the kids come home from school.

It has never bothered me in keeping me awake but I stopped drinking caffeinated coffee several months ago. And that was only the 50/50 blend.

@ShyBear88 It only has half the caffiene as regular coffee.

@kareng I don’t know what a 50/50 blend is. I’m a caffeine person.

I would never be able to sleep if I drink coffee, but this is only a matter of habit.

It has never bothered me before with sleeping but I have switched to a healthy blend with the only caffiene coming from the chicory root.

@kareng My husband likes chicory, this is something I cannot stand. I suppose it is genetic, my grandparents and my parents could not stand chicory as it was the only available fake coffee during World War II.

I drink decaffinated or the 50/50 blend so that doesn't bother me. It didn't when I drank regular coffee either.

If I have coffee it's usually in the morning after I wake up but I haven't really noticed if it actually helps me stay awake.

I always have at least 1 big cup every morning. Sometimes I go for 2-3; especially in the winter months.

I probably will start drinking more coffee etc when it gets colder. Coffee isn't always my first choice in the mornings.

Unless you have decaf do without the coffee. Even if it dont always keep you awake it can contribute.

I have switched to a natural blend with chicory, so only caffiene is from chicory root. I made homemade mac and cheese instead. It was good!

@wolfgirl569 It was good and one reason I got up and out of bed. My stomach was growling. Then I turned computer on and ignored it.

Coffee never bothers me because I don’t drink it. However, I do make a point to drink decaffeinated or herbal tea at night.

I drink decaf or 50/50 blend here. I'll be breaking out the hot herbal tea during the winter.

I switched to the natural Nutriplus coffee a few months ago so just getting the caffiene from the chicory root. I had previously been drinking the 50/50 blend. That was good too.

It hasn't bothered me either in the past. I'm now on decaf or 50/50 blend due to re-occurring UTI's. I did get some sleep but ended up making some homemade mac and cheese instead of the coffee. I think I was just hungry. I slept for 5 solid hours and felt refreshed when I woke up.

Nope, coffee has never bothered me with sleep before. I couldn't go without my coffee! I went down to 50/50 blend and survived. Drinking a natural coffee now with chicory. It's all good.

@nela13 It is sometimes an acquired taste. If you like stonger coffee, you would probably like it. Otherwise, not so much.

I can drink coffee and still go to sleep. I drink coffee a LOT. Always have a cup after dinner every evening, too. I think I have been drinking coffee for so many years that my body just accepts it and I go to sleep. Maybe I am just weird.
