How About Asparagus?

Is it one of your favorite vegetables? It is for my wife. I, on the other hand, much prefer broccoli. There's just something about the taste of asparagus that puts me off. In the summer season, when we can local produce, it is better, this time of year, when it is trucked in from who knows how far, it is skinny and doesn't taste good to me at all. I bring it home from the store though since Anne likes it so much. Often, i have broccoli while she enjoys her asparagus. What other veggies do you like best?

I can eat very few green veggies. I have to watch my vitamin K. Nice that you and Anne can enjoy them.

Anne has her blood checked frequently, has to be careful of that K stuff too, but is able to eat salads.

Is it because of weather?

I am with you. I am more of a brocoli fan. Asparagus has kind of a slime factor I find off putting.

@JamesHxstatic I think it is good with lemon butter or Hollandaise sauce.

Even with butter on it, I don't want more than maybe 4 stalks.

@JamesHxstatic my mother-in-law never eats vegetables. AS in never! She eats only meat and fruits. She's in her mid 60s now and she's healthy. Her laboratory exams are all normal.

My mother rarely ate veggies as I recall, but lived to be 99 (last 20 years were not so good though).

@jstory07 I try not to take too much of that. My wife butters bread, I don't. She uses no butter on corn.

Vince isn't really into asparagus so we never have it at home. But we were given it when we stayed with friends recently and I really enjoyed it. I like broccoli too - and I love pumpkin.

I like asparagus, it has a slightly bitter after taste.and can be kind of chewy and hard to bite apart. You have to pull and chew its strands. But it's still a vegetable I will eat if on my plate

A tip... Dollar Tree sells asparagus in the freezer section by the bag for a $1.00. I know that you might not like items from Dollar Tree, but just thought I would mention.

I love pretty much all vegetables. Asparagus is a favorite as well as broccoli, but I don't like canned or frozen asparagus, just fresh. I hate it when veggies are mushy, like canned carrots. Plain broccoli just lightly steamed with a bit of lemon and sea salt is delicious.
