The Neighbor is Mowing!

We like the neighbors on one side of us but they do some odd things sometimes... Today the husband is out mowing his yard. That's normally not a big deal but it's 34F (1C) outside right now...
Last winter we saw him mowing when there was over an inch (a couple of centimeters) of snow on the ground.
Have you ever been so desperate to mow your yard that you've gone out in a snowstorm to mow it?

@DaddyEvil We always thought that our neighbor is not totally normal. A few years ago he was fixed on orchids. He built a special greenhouse, every Saturday took out all the plants, watered, hanged to drain and put them inside... it took all the day. Now it's the vegetable garden, he digs, he plants, he fertilizes like a crazy.

@LadyDuck It sounds like he goes "all in" on his hobbies. As long as he's happy, that's what matters.

Pretty and I are discussing whether something is mentally wrong with him right now... I guess, as long as he's not actually hurting himself or others, there isn't anything we can do.
We are worried about him, though.

I got back in bed to myLot. Inside the house it's a nice 72F but just thinking about him out there mowing is making me cold! (Pretty just go up and told me she wished he'd stop. She was asleep.

Your neighbor is a cat? Oh...you said mowing, not meowing. Never mind.

@DaddyEvil That is really sad. Do they have kids or are they just torturing animals?

@xander6464 We feel sorry for the pets. They let the cat run loose but the dog is chained up in their back yard, most of the time.

Something is weird about this but normally they are so nice and sane we don't want to ask why he does that. (The neighbors on the other side of us, though, are nuts!)

They look like sugarcane because they are sugarcane. Growing in my yard. My daughter makes syrup from them in the fall.

I have no yard but I guess people who are a bit well off hire gardeners to do it for them. Unless they don't mind tending ti it themselves.

Most people in our city take care of their own yard. But most of us won't mow when its snowing, either.

@ihasaquestion Yes, it is and you don't have to worry about your lawn mower rusting if you keep it from getting wet, too.

@vandana7 Some of us know English... Sometimes I like to poke at you, though.
I can show you lots of snowy photos from before we moved into this house. In some, the snow covered my car in the driveway.

@DaddyEvil I didn't say that. You're just being sensitive. Go look at some leaves. It'll make you feel better.

@Daddyevil I have a neighbour who mows the lawn late at night. He insists that the grass recovers more quickly if mowed in the dark. I mean like at midnight - moron. As for doing stuff in the snow - I’d never mow the lawn in it, but many a time I’ve gone skinny dipping in the sea with a bunch of other idiots during snow. Sea feels a lot warmer than standing on the beach.

@DaddyEvil Theirs was large too. At least the front was. It was also an odd yard. Someone before them terraced it. So it looked like it had large steps in the front.

I must be out of it right now because I read your title as The Neighbor is Meowing!
What was he mowing when there was snow on the ground?

@lovebuglena "Detailing" in this case means he vacuumed my car, cleaned the dash and then used a gel on my headlights and taillights to "brighten up" the glass and make the lights shine better.
No, he and his wife live next door but she works during the day.

It reached 47F yesterday. I would have at least waited until it got warmer than 34F before mowing.

@CarolDM True enough... Sometimes he goes around the neighborhood cutting other people's grass, too. He's really nice but kind of funny.

we mow in the late fall to pick up leaves so we don't have to rake!

He doesn't have trees in his yard except for the one walnut tree in the back yard.
We just let the wind carry the leaves from our trees across the culvert at the end of the yard.

We just let the wind blow them away. And we haven't finished picking up the walnuts from the yard. We could hear the neighbor hitting them as he mowed this morning.
