I went to a tattoo parlour

I don’t understand the modern love affair with tattoos but if others want to have them, that’s okay. I’ve never been inside a tattoo parlour but our old home town now has one and the friend we stayed with asked if I wanted to see inside. I was a bit surprised that she’d ask or want to go but I was even more surprised when I stepped inside the shop.
It was very luxurious in a dark kind of way and I loved the cubist-type dog. The actual tattooing took place behind a screen. It seems they are used to curious people popping in to take a look and they didn’t mind me taking photos.
So is this similar to most tattoo parlours? Usually, you can’t see into the windows so I’m wondering what others know about them. And it's five days since I posted. That must be a record for me. But I am negative for COVID and the antibiotics are at last starting to kick in.

I'm so glad to see you! I was really getting worried since the last you told us you weren't feeling well... I'm glad the antibiotics are helping and you weren't positive for Covid.
I don't have any tattoos but I've been in tattoo parlors here. Most aren't that fancy here. The waiting areas are more plain, like a doctor's waiting room... I was able to go in with a friend when he was getting tattooed. The artist was very nice and talked with my friend and I while he worked. It was very interesting.
That was the same place and the same artist who did one of my piercings and pierced Pretty's belly button when she was 15. I got her the piercing for her birthday. Don't ask about my piercing unless you really, really want to know because I'll tell you.
Some parlors here allow anyone to watch, as long as the patient doesn't mind someone watching. Others are behind screens or in a different room.

@JudyEv You're welcome...
I don't have any tattoos. I just can't see myself with one... *shrug* I think some of them look good on other people but I just don't want one.
Depending on where the person is getting the tattoo, my friends said they can really hurt. I didn't want to watch that. I'm not into watching someone being tortured.

It's been a long time since I felt so ill but I'm on the mend now, thanks.
The tattoo chair was just behind a bit of a screen but I didn't particularly want to watch even if it had been okay. And I'll pass on knowing where your tattoo is, thanks. I'll just use my imagination.

@DaddyEvil They say it hurts if it's near the bone. I'm not really into pain.

I've never been to one either. I assumed that would be like going to a beauty parlour or hairdressers when you didn't need their services - I wouldn't consider going in one of those either if I wasn't considering using them. The ones I've seen around here usually have lots of designs stuck up all over the windows, and I've never really stopped to peer past those and see what was inside.

I know it's really stupid but I'm always a tiny bit disappointed when I see someone with a tattoo. I guess it's the age. When I was young, only soldiers and sailors had tattoos. But now even quite young people through to grandmothers might have them virtually covering their arms and some, usually men, up into their hairline, even on their scalps. I just can't imagine why they think it's nice.

@JudyEv I agree. It's a fad, but eventually a lot of people will regret them.

Interesting, I would not know because I have never had a tattoo, I never felt the urge to go into one to look around.

@JudyEv I agree. They are awful. I think people who get them all over their bodies ruin their look. You know the soccer star, David Beckham? He has a handsome face but he ruined his good looks by getting tattoos all over both his arms.

@LeaPea2417 Many of the top sportsmen have lots of tattoos. It cheapens them in my opinion.

I have never been inside one either. The ones around here don't look that good outside.
So glad you are testing negative! Are cases still climbing there?

@JudyEv That sounds like the US. Every state seems to have the reluctant ones.

I've always thought they looked very sleazy and had no desire to go inside but I didn't like to disappoint my friend.
We have no cases in WA but we've locked out people from the eastern states. They have a lot of cases over there at the moment. We've managed to isolate all our cases before the virus got a chance to spread. But 'our' people are now a bit complacent and a bit slow to turn up for vaccinations.

I honestly have only been in parlors in Copenhagen and Amsterdam, and that was a curiosity (see what they look like)
they (the ones I went in) were very different than the one you've shown.
Hopefully you are feeling better!

At my age, I sometimes wonder what if I will have my skin tattoed, maybe my colleagues and friends will just say or ask me, what happened to me. Maybe they will ask me, why only now.
Anyhow, nowadays, tattoo are one way of expressing your body art.

Some people like to have tattoos but they're not for me. I don't like them at all.
