The doctor has me on seroquel, and klonopin but I am so groggy from them. Does anyone have any suggestions. I do suffer from bipolar and depression which probably effect this . so a warm cup of milk doesnt just work. HELP I hate popping pills .. I have been off my other meds though

have you try these tips?
* Wind down prior to bedtime
* Do not smoke (nicotine is a stimulant) or consume caffeine
* Try warm milk or a light snack before bed (if this doesn’t interfere with another treatment you are using)
* Exercise daily, but not right before bedtime
* Take a warm bath, but not right before bedtime
* Keep a regular bedtime and rising time
* Get in the habit of going to bed when you are sleepy and sleeping where you sleep best
* Reserve your bed for sleeping only
* Don’t have any clocks visible to you
* Reduce the amount of time you allow yourself to sleep until you fall asleep easily (your health care provider can help with this form of “sleep restriction therapy”
* Schedule worry time during the day and put worries out of your head when it is time to sleep; you can write them down on 3×5 cards, and then let go of them
* Get up if you have not fallen asleep in 15 minutes and practice a relaxing activity (e.g. handwork, reading a boring book) until you feel sleepy

You know what, sometimes me and my hubby find it difficult to sleep as well, and we tried drinking cocoa mixed up with milk before we go to bed. And its really working for us.

I get my proper sleep after 12-13 hours of hard work and so I never take any pills.

I take over the counter sleeping pills on occasion. I dont like taking anything. But I think we need a good nights sleep. Give it a try.

I suffer from insomnia, and a lot of other things mind you. However I unfortunately rely on imovane (a sleeping pill in Canada) and that is the only thing that can knock me out. Melatonin doesn't even work for me anymore. I would have prefered a natural remedy, anything to get me off of imovane. With the imovane I can get at least 6 hours of sleep which is good for me but I hate relying on that stuff. Without it, I am lucky if I get 6 hours, with it being broken up at least 3 times that is!!

There are many things at the health food store that could help. Valerian Root Tea, Chamomile tea, as well as the amino acid tryptophan, which is also in turkey.

Chamomile tea is supposed to be pretty relaxing. The smell of lavendar is supposed to be calming/help you fall asleep. Maybe try smelling some lavendar oil. Could also try meditating before bed. Just relax, clear your mind. I remember reading an article and trying it-worked sometimes, lay in bed, flex the muscles one at a time, starting with your toes, then your feet, then your legs, etc. move up to your head. Flex them for a few seconds then relax, repeat the same area 2 or 3 times. The whole time just focus your mind on relaxing.
