A poem for Christmas Day

I met a friend via the internet who loved to write music for his church's Christmas service. All the needed was some words for his music. For several years we enjoyed a partnership for Christmas. This is one of the lyrics, the copyright is mine, but the music is his. So I can only share the words. Christmas Day A star shining high in the darkened sky A cold and frosty morn, In a stable bright lit by candlelight The Son of God is born. In a field nearby glory fills the sky An angel comes to say ‘I have news of joy for a baby boy Was born to you today.’ Shepherds hear the song of the angel throng To Bethlehem they run, For the angel said ‘In a manger bed Lies Christ the Chosen one.’ Hear the church bells ring and the people sing The ancient carols play, As we decorate let us celebrate The joys of Christmas Day.

@41combedaleroad It’s great to get a new Carol to slip in among the well known ones. Things can become a bit predictable otherwise even at a time of newness and birth. I do hope you enjoy worship this Christmas.

I did enjoy worship this Christmas. I watched a choir singing some old and some new carols and they all were obviously enjoying what they were singing about. It started with a traditional carol service and grew into a worship service. Nothing was predictable but they were a long way away in England. I watched it twice!

Lovely words to sing. I have written many lyrics on Christmas in Hindi. Many of them reflect the meaning of your song.

Thank you Xavier. It is good to connect with another person who writes hymns.

Your lyrics are really appropriate for Christmas. Congratulations on creating new carols/hymns.
