There are many places in Florida that have white yards similar to yours...except in our case it's white beach sand! And our trees are alive and green! haha I don't envy you at all for the cold weather you have. I used to love the cold, but I'm finding I like it less and less with each passing year. I guess my body is finally accepting the fact that I'm a native Floridian who needs warmth.

myLotters who might enjoy it more than I do... For some reason a few of them are trying to push it back at me, though.

Pretty and I have stayed in the house for the last week. It's shady and 72F in here... and we're making a pasta bake today as well as bok choy and beef... You'd be welcome to snowshoe your way here and enjoy some with us, though.

@moffittjc It would feel great to us but we are coming off a few days with lows in the teens. Keeping warm by using the fireplace to help the furnace. The pellet burner is down right now. Hopefully after tomorrow it will be working again.

@wolfgirl569 We usually average only about a dozen days a year where the temps here drop below freezing. so far, we'e had zero days of that, and the trend will probably continue. It's been a warm winter here. I have central heat and air in my home, and in the five years I've lived here, I have yet to turn on my heat.

I slept for 14 hours last night, and my head doesn't feel quite as achy this morning. I am blowing my nose like crazy, but at least it's all coming out. I hate when head colds head southward and turn into chest colds. I'm really hoping I can avoid that. Hope you stay warm up in Ohio! It's on the cooler side here this weekend, but not quite as cool as it usually is this time of year. Today would actually be a good beach day, although the ocean breeze would probably make it feel too cold. I'm sure the snowbirds are loving it though.

Sounds like a great way to spend the holidays! I am sure everyone had a great time! I haven't been on Mylot much lately either and trying to catch up now. Working an extra hour during the holidays at the boutique kicked my butt!!

@moffittjc I think I am finally getting used to working again. The one day a week left me sore from all the walking. I loved that I was getting extra exercise. Now I have agreed to pull a morning shift for another lady who is going to Montana to help a cousin move to IL. So that means I have to wake up EARLY to be there and open at 10 am. We will see how that goes!! That isn't until the end of the month. I keep telling myself I'm crazy. (and that is partially true!!)

@CarolDM Disney has placed 50 golden statues all around the theme parks in honor of their 50th anniversary. I was able to find all 50, but none of them were of Eeyore. They did have a statue of Pooh hugging Piglet though.

Gather ‘round, kiddies, and I’ll tell you the story of the time when Disney World could be visited IN ONE DAY.

That wasn’t round #4 of ‘Rona for you, was it? The way things are going now, I wouldn’t even bother going to the doctor if I had a mild-moderate cold. They’re overrun with people, and what good would “knowing” if it was covid or not do anyway? They used to say if you go to the doctor for a cold, it’ll last seven days; but if you stay at home and treat it yourself it’ll only last a week.

Glad you’re better. I hope to be heading for warmer weather next time the snow falls here.

@moffittjc — well, “back then,” there was actually only ONE park. And truth be told, I found that I liked Disney Land better because it wasn’t as commercialized as Disney World. (Realize, too, that the last time I was at Disney World was 1979 and the only time I was at Disney Land was 1983.)

It's possible that it's #4 for me, but I'm not going to bother getting tested. It is what it is; I'll be sick for a little while, then I'll get better. Life will go on. Yes, it's hard to visit Disney World in one day now due to the crowd sizes and length of the ride queues. I probably can do each park in one day, but that's because I have been going so frequently for the past 25 years that I know all the ins and outs of the parks.

@FourWalls While I was at Disney, one of the Disney bus drivers told me that they are early planning stages for building a 5th theme park on the sprawling Disney World property. This was the first I've heard of this, but I have been saying for years that another theme park was needed. Just down the road, Universal Studios is building a massive new theme park near their other theme parks. There is and has always been lots of competition between Disney and Universal, so once Universal broke ground on their new theme park, I suspected it wouldn't be long until Disney did the same.

@JudyEv There are 31 resorts, 4 theme parks, 2 waterparks, a huge shopping district, and multiple golf courses. If someone wanted to, they could select just one area to visit if they were only doing a day trip. We've done that many times, where we would just select one of the theme parks, drive down for the day, and then come back home late the same night. It's not easy to do, but it can be done. I think it's best for someone who has never experienced Disney to spend at least a week there exploring everything there is to see.

Disneyland (in California) is quite small. Disney World (in Florida) is huge; it is roughly the same size as the city of San Francisco.

It's finally turned cold here now too. Won't last for long, but it looks like for the next 7-10 days it will be frigid, with lows at night dipping below freezing. It doesn't do that often here where I live.

I know how much you love going to disneyworld. Its a pretty view. Here we actually had typical winter weather. Its been so mild, but this week we had that real cold, but at least it was sunny. It was so warm earlier that my spring bulbs that I planted started to come thru the ground. They can go back to sleep now for a while.

@moffittjc I'm trying to keep that cold from going into my lungs too. I gave in and called the doctor for the post nasal drip and got antibiotics. Fingers crossed Hope you can get rid of your cold but as you said, at least you got it after vacation

Yeah, it's unfortunate that I got sick after Disney. But on the bright side, I got sick afterward, and not during! lol My cold is still lingering too, even after a week. But thankfully it's still just a head cold. Usually they migrate down into lungs and become chest colds. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't happen this time. So far so good.
