The effects of Covid restrictions.

Greece

Since March 2020 our normal life has been seriously affected by Covid, Greece was quick to act so we have been wearing masks and distancing since then. The restrictions have lessened a little but after the varying freedom of summer this year Delta and Omicron have brought our social life almost to a standstill. The hairdresser closed for a while and my hair is the longest it has ever been, I do less walking so I have put on weight, no family from England have been able to come and local friends have kept their distance. Church attendance is very restricted, shopping is limited to basics. It has led to rather a quiet life, I have become used to Zoom for social contacts. It is rather convenient to chat from my armchair and certainly easier than getting into the car and driving somewhere to meet with a friend. When life eventually returns to normal - will I be able to enjoy it again?

It’s the same here. I’m so ready to go back to normal.

So much has been affected by this virus. Our state has been luckier than most as they've mostly managed to keep it out and we haven't had too many restrictions.

You will enjoy it so much. I did enjoy the first time lock down was lifted although now I'm crippled by the disease itself. Omicron seems to be milder and easily transmitted this could actually mark the end of this pandemic.

I know what you mean. I changed my hairstyle and let my natural colour shine thru as a result of restrictions and lockdowns at the hair dresser's over this virus. I have really cut back on my purchases of purses, shoes and clothing. I work from home, so that should explain that.

We still have restriction. I have never been extremely social and I am very well at home. I cut my hair, I walk every day, I go grocery shopping early in the morning once a week. When the pandemic will be over I will continue as I do right now, but I will go out time by time for a nice dinner at a restaurant.

Don't you actually mean IF life ever returns to what once was considered "normal"? With so many people not accepting vaccination when the vaccines actually worked, we've caused ourselves some problems. Scientists will now have to formulate a new vaccine that will focus on the newest variants. And people still won't get vaccinated... In the US, a large portion of the population refuse to wear masks or social distance so the new variants will keep coming and the scientists... etc.

@41combedaleroad I don’t think we’ll ever be as free and easy again. Our church closed for about six months initially then for another five. Now we meet again but with masks and distancing and certainly no handshaking. Singing wearing a mask is more than just difficult.
