Day 219
Psalm 119
Psalm 119:65 TETH. You dealt well with Your servant, O LORD, according unto Your Word.
66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge; for I believed Your commandments.
67 Before they afflicted me, I went astray; but now I kept Your Word.
68 You are good, and do good; teach me Your statutes.
69 The proud forged a lie against me; but I will keep Your precepts with my whole heart.
70 Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in Your law.
71 It is good for me that they afflicted me; that I might learn Your statutes.
72 The law of Your mouth is better unto me than thousands in gold and silver.
Most people have gone through tough situations meant to tear them down, instead it built them up.
The psalmist also went through tough situations meant to turn him from his faith in God. Instead, those situations drew him closer to God so that he spent more time reading God’s law and leaning on Him in tough situations rather than on the circumstances. His prayer centered on drawing closer to God and delighting in His law.
Scripture shows many examples of people who went through tough circumstances. Joseph was sold into slavery. Elijah feared for his life and found God on a mountain.
Hebrews 11 shows all the men and women who refused to bow to their circumstances. Their faith in God kept them going to greater heights.
Hebrews 11:32 And what shall I more say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
As Christians, you have these examples to help you stand in your faith, unwavering. Every problem Satan brings your way is meant to tear you down. However, when you draw close to God and resist Satan, he will flee and you will build up your faith.
Don’t let your circumstances dictate your life. Dictate your life by faith in Jesus Christ to overcome everything Satan throws your way.
Let’s pray: Father, help me stand in faith, unwavering when Satan comes against me to destroy me. Let Your Word rise in me so I can defeat Satan’s plans. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

The whole of Hebrews 11 is my favorite chapter especially when I meditate verse 1-20. It ignites my faith when I'm down.
Thank you for the teachings you shared here. The story of Joseph and Elijah is very inspiring

Jesus told Satan to get behind him so we can keep that in mind. Focusing instead on the Lord's presence in our lives and leave the problems to him.
