Another golden wedding tomorrow

My husband and I celebrated our golden wedding back in September. Tomorrow, we will be congratulating our good friends on reaching theirs. We have been friends with this couple for over 30 years as our children attended school together and we belonged to the same parish. It was thanks to them that we moved to the same gated village.
They are celebrating with a sit-down lunch for about 50 people. We will not be giving gifts to them but will be making donations to ‘Mercy Ships’. Have you hear of this charity? It is a fully equipped hospital ship manned by volunteers. The ship sails to third world countries and operates for free. Some of the patients have terrible disfigurements and the teams help as many as they can in the time available to them.

@JudyEv In 1960 my Dad and all of his siblings embarked on their new lives.
That meant that we had a huge year in 1985 when they were all celebrating their 25th anniversaries.
We rented 2 large chalets on the lake for a weekend and all 3 generations of us gathered and celebrated together. Celebrating together was so much fun, we cooked, ate, cleaned up and hung out together. It was a magical time that I will never forget.

Some of the patients walk for days to get to the ports and even then they might be rejected. It's very sad.

Hope you have a wonderful time celebrating your friends golden anniversary. Donations to the Mercy Ships is a great idea. Being married for 50 years is certainly something worth celebrating.

We are all about the same age I guess. This is the third lot of close friends to have recently celebrated.
