Michael Jackson (1958-2009) was the King of Pop and the most awarded music artist in history.
He made his professional debut in 1964 with his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon as the Jackson 5. He began his solo career in 1971. He sold over 400 million records worldwide; and his popularity continues even today. In 2016 Forbes reported his estate earnings at $825 million -- the largest yearly amount ever recorded for a celebrity.
Regardless of what you might think about his personal life, he made pop music history and was responsible for a lot of good music. Enjoy "Rock With You" below:

@LindaOHio I like his songs. However the man that he became I didnot like this .The rumors of the child molestations I didnot like . I didnot like that he change is color and appearance. He looked genuine growing as a kid and in his teen years. However when he became an adult he looked false

@lindaohio That would be a no from me. I’m always amused by singers being referred to as Kings and Queens - some of us are trying to get rid of monarchies!!

As the convergence of various talents that he has (songwriter, singer, dancer, fashion trendsetter, image packaging, performer, etc.), Michael Jackson is great. Somehow, I like some of his most memorable songs, which are quite a few. However, taken into isolation, each of those talents can't match most artists in their respective arenas. It is in this respect that I consider him overrated.

@stewartclint The truth is that he was a good dancer! And maybe he did some good deeds in this regard !!

@soymex Exacty, he was a good dancer. Not outstanding. Thank you for being such a good sport butI'm going to have to stop here. That I may have to dodge some bullets is getting pretty imminent.

I had all his videos on VHS My oldest son used to argue (teasingly) that he was better performer then Elvis.
I don't think so but it's a generation thing.

I agree with you. A lot of his performances had special effects so it is not a fair comparison.

I liked him best when he came out with that album "Thriller" in the early 1980s. To me that was the height of his career.

@LindaOHio He was a strange cat for sure. But one thing I have often said is that he never really had a normal life to begin with. So, as much he was strange, it is possible that he was simply a product of the life he knew which was very different than what the normal person experiences.
