Not The Mylot l Remember - What Happened?

After my unwilling departure from Mylot in 2018 when my Internet connectivity breathed it's last breath, my plan was to be back in six months at least , but then-- life happened.
Now that l am back l can hardly recognize the Mylot l left. This site was exciting, motivating, intoxicating --and flavored with a dash of colorful characters. Of course there were dull moments, but most of the time Mylot was simply buzzing.
What happened? Did Covid wrap it's deadly fingers around my beloved site- or am l laying blame at the wrong feet?.
What do you think ?.

@Kandae11 Because pony kept asking her silly things to get a rise out of her... She'll still talk with him but only when she feels like it.

It has changed. We’ve lost a lot of people. I’m not sure if it’s due to Covid or not. Some of us have another site that we alternate back and forth from. It’s very similar to Mylot.

@Tampa_girl7 Care to share the name of the other site? I thought this was the only one like this.

If you think MyLot was a busy place in 2018, you would have loved the 2008 version. The feed was filled with discussions in much the same way as FB or Twitter. MyLot has become less traveled but a much friendlier forum. The forum itself has changed from a discussion forum with lively debate and unique characters to more of a blog or daily diary site. Copy and paste scammers have been eliminated and admin keeps a clean forum that is friendly for users of all ages.
I agree that it's slower paced and the tone is much different than what once was.

There were dozens of times I caught other members copying and pasting my responses as their own. I'll admit that it was kind of fun to confront them.
I am glad it's not an issue anymore.

I don't know any "colorful" characters on myLot. It seems I always miss out on all the fun. If you find someone fun to talk with, will you tag me into the conversation?

@DaddyEvil Just an update - This is new one. When they first launched that bike/scooty that tag line actually had impact on many. And was one of the most sold scooty at that time.

Covid gets blamed for everything, if you haven't noticed yet. Along with the pandemic, 'people' have changed and that means everyone, everywhere is different.

@Kandae11 Over the past two year, people have changed in every way. Internet was once a place of refuges, now it is a place to get scammed, insulted and thrown to the ground. My Lot is only a site, where people congregate. Now, people are out trying to find a way to fix their financial issues. Playing online doesn't pay their bills!

@kobesbuddy And because of Covid life is predicted to get even harder - financially, people's mental health has already seen a dive, child abuse and abuse on the whole has increase since Covid. Everyone has to find a way to survive and preserve their mental well-being

To be sincere, I'm not very old here but I also feel the same. Mylot is completely different than how it was when I first joined in 2017. It had many active people back then compared to now. But maybe the pandemic has little to do with it. And life happens so that can explain everything.
I still like mylot though

@mildredtabitha quality over quantity. As long as we have some great quality people here that’s excellent.

I have tried to come back a few times, but either my computer (same one I'm using now) or something in the code prevented me from responding to discussions or comments on discussions I started. So I quit in frustration. Than someone posted a discussion about giraffes and brought me back and it has been working for the last bunch of weeks.

@Kandae11 Me too, but it has been working steadily for a month. Now I just need to get back in the habit of coming here every day. Actually, I've managed that, what I need is to get back in the habit of starting discussions every day.
But that would mean I need to do something every day... whereas the only thing I've done today is watch videos and boil spaghetti noodles. I fed the dogs too....

I am not sure exactly what happened here, but it is totally a different site now, I know what you mean.
But recently, there has been a major shift here, of members being lured to other sites. This is all I recall happening lately. And many have not returned.

Things might have changed and I know people have left as I see in the comments you have been informed to who is no longer around but I still enjoy my time here and can find things to amuse me to enjoy and I always love to catch up on everything everyone is doing,

@sharonelton l was never really on Facebook. Well, l did join but only family members were involved. I may or may not update.
About new members, on second thoughts it might be a difficult task reeling them in. like one member commented, the world has changed in many ways over the past two years - people seem to have lost their taste for some things.

@Kandae11 Well, I've only been here 3 years and it's fine for me. If you want more people to join why don't you promote it on Facebook or something?.

Maybe, the site is reflective of the times and of people's frame of mind--It has been slumpy of late--but I suspect it will pick up again--I am one of those that are here and not depending on how things are in my other worlds--but I always come back--

It's hard to pinpoint why there's a lull but I've found that myLot is like pendulum and goes back and forth (being busy to a lull). Like others have commented we've lost some valuable friends here (Fredo). I know for myself I don't spend as much time here every day as I used to. I've been keeping myself busy offline but I do pop on and off here throughout the day.

Yes indeed, most mylotters wouldn't just close their account and walk away - they are here whenever they can make it , even if they are involved elsewhere. It is the pull of Mylot. Like you say Mylot is like a pendulum swinging back and forth. And in my view- never going down.
