Unique snowfall in Greece.

When this snowfall fell it came with an electric storm. Never before have I heard of snow falling, lightening flashing and thunder crashing all at the same time. It was a bit scarey, especially the lightening which was very frequent.
It started some time after 6 a.m. and when I got up at 8.30 the the snow was piled high around us in the immediate area and anywhere further than that obliterated in a 'fog' of heavy snow. It snowed for about 8 hours, stopped for the night and then continued the following day.
Today the sky has partially cleared and the sun is shining on the white mountains but I can hear the sound of melting snow. But it is a slow melt. There are still sltorm clouds around and I am hoping they do not drift this way.

It is. People have told me so and I have been here for many winters and never seen such a thing, or known the snow to fall so heavily and for so long.

@41combedaleroad Athens looks quite strange under snow, and with cars abandoned in the streets.

The motorway near us was completely blocked by cars overwhelmed by the snow. People were being taken to hotels or just left to sit in their cars. Some for 12 hours. There was no way home for some in this area. Even the train couldn't get to us.

They get thundersnow sometimes in the areas on the coast a bit SE of here. It is a relatively rare phenomenon.

Lightning during a snowstorm is called "thundersnow" here. And yes, the lightning can come fast and furious during such a storm.
I'd be willing to try to shift some of our wonderful temps to you, if you're interested? It's -11C here this morning. That would encourage the snow you received to stick around for a few days, at least.
The photo is beautiful.

We've had those snowstorms with thunder and lightening and they can be a bit scary. Getting that much snow probably has caused a huge problem if you're not used to it. Hope it doesn't melt too fast and you get flooding.

I hope there will be no damage from the storms and snow. Climates seem to be changing all over the world.

Weather is not what it was before! Unfortunatelly a lot of severe action of weather from flooding, raining hard to firestorms and others like this!
