Am I a glutton?

My husband comes from a family where they eat at fixed timings, 3 complete meals a day, with one snack time where sometimes there is snack, sometimes there isn't. In a way, a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
But in my family, there is no fixed timings. We ate junk food, at any time of the day, early morning, late night, half an hour before a meal or half an hour after. No problem.
As I'm used to that, I constantly feel hungry. I would have had a full lunch and yet feel like my stomach is empty. I'm definitely a glutton.
I had even created a slogan back in my college days- Education, food and advice...when it's available, always take it.

I was raised in an environment like that. Constantly eating. While we were eating, my mother would ask us what we want to eat and we would be like "we can barely finish what we are having now" and she would respond "ok I'll make something".
We ate our health away that's for sure. I had to move out to break from the bad habits. Now I can stay without food for 3 days straight and not feel hungry at all.

@sammyy no, it's an extended fast. After I'm done with one, I feel 10 years younger. Cells are rejuvenated, immune system resets, there's more insulin sensitivity, and you clear your gut microbiome from pathogenic bacteria.
The last 3 years I only eat once a day, so I'm in a fasted state for 20-30 hours (the meal timing fluctuates). But if there's a disease involved (like the Covid I got recently) then I extend my fast for as long as necessary, because autophagy will deal with the pathogens and damaged cells first and that helps with recovery.

This is a very interesting and complex issue.
How much a person needs to eat is very individual - of course there are averages based on criteria such as body mass, metabolism and activity level, but there is a lot of variance.
I know of one young lady, who must eat constantly - many hundreds of calories just to maintain the frail body she has. Her body doesn't metabolize much of what she eats. But no one could call her a glutton.
Gluttony is more of an attitude to food - a greediness.
Just because you are hungry all the time, doesn't make you greedy.

Ohh! I didn't know such a need exists! But yeah, this may differ individual to individual...

While growing up we had strict meal times and maybe, a snack in the afternoon. As an adult, I eat when I get hungry and whatever I feel like eating. *shrug* When my daughter was young, we had meal times and a snack in the afternoon. Now, she eats when and what she wants to eat.

@sammyy Exactly. Which means that only you can decide if you're being a glutton or not. It's nobody else's business.
