For those who don't know, Ko-Fi.com is a website generally used by creators to get "tips" or really donations from their followers or customers or whatever. It's usually used by artists or writers to get an extra couple dollars here and there. Normally you only make $1-$5 in tips max, but today someone gave me $20!
What did I get it for?
Writing long character pieces about Riley Poole from National Treasure on Medium, lol.
Of all the articles I've written, I get my biggest payout from a fellow fan in a dead fandom lol. Go figure. Just goes to show you never know what you might get paid for!

Ok. I'm out of circulation and old now.
You may have to explain better how Ko-Fi.com works.
You write articles on any subject that interests you. You then submit them to the site. People view the articles and tip you if they are liked. Do they use your articles or just read them?
Can the articles be purchased too?
Sorry for being so ignorant lol
OMGosh. Forgive me. Congratulations on the huge tip

Oh, nono. Medium is the site that I write blog articles on. On that site I get paid per full read (but only if the people who read the piece are also subscribed members).
Ko-fi is more like.... like a much simpler PayPal account or like a go-fund-me. You sign up for an account on Ko-fi and they give you a link that you can paste on things where people can just drop you a dollar or whatever as a tip. I paste my Ko-fi link at the end of every article I write so that outside readers who aren't paying members at Medium can still pay me something if they think my article was worthwhile.
Apparently someone thought it was because that was a crazy tip!
But yeah, I also post my Ko-fi link on my writer twitter profile, you can stick it anywhere where you might think people might see it and drop you some spare change.

@akruser13
I get it now.
So you just never know what will earn you money. That's pretty neat.

@akruser13 I got confused. There are two sites? Which site really made you earn that 20USD?

@Neil43 Medium is the site I post my articles on. Ko-fi is a separate thing sort of like a Paypal account. The two aren't connected. I just post my Ko-fi link at the bottom of my Medium articles in case readers want to leave a tip that is not associated with Medium in any way. So basically what happened is someone read my article on Medium, liked it, and decided I deserved a tip for it so they tipped me on my Ko-fi link.

Yep! Both are actually. Ko-fi free and Medium is free. Just note that on Medium you'll have better odds of making money and gaining followers if you do have the $5/month membership.

@akruser13 I think it is possible for me. I just need to write articles here, right?

Kofi will take payments using either PayPal or Stripe or both, I know some countries don't host Stripe but if you can do PayPal then you can use Kofi.
Medium, the site I post my writing on, will only pay using Stripe so if your country doesn't support Stripe then you won't get paid by the Medium sites for your writing.

@Shavkat You can post your kofi link anywhere you want, but I think myLot specifically has rules against putting these types of links in your discussion posts.
But you can write articles on Medium and paste your kofi link at the bottom of your articles there if you'd like, yes.

Yes you do! Your Kofi account has like a profile page where you can post things as you please. It gives you the option to thank people and have that be public on your timeline if you want.

I'm sorry, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic and asking a question about what I was referring to, or if you're saying you've experienced something similar?

If you look to where I replied on vikingswest's question about it, I explain it there!
