Relaxing by the beach

I’m been going through my photo files and came across this. I’m not really a beach person and I’m not into fishing but, to me, this scene just oozes relaxation and peacefulness.
The guy (I think it’s a guy) seems perfectly happy there on his own. He probably doesn’t really care if he catches a fish or not.
It was taken at Madora Bay, Western Australia, where our friends have a very lovely 5-bed, 5-bath holiday house. When we were kids, we would holiday in Mandurah and drive through the scrub to Madora Bay to swim. Now, it’s all very fancy houses.

Pretty likes to catch fish but I don't. I put the worm on the hook for her and then read until she starts yelling that she's caught something. I take the fish off the hook and put it back into the water and rebait her hook for her. When she gets tired of fishing, I help her pack up and we go home again. (We don't like eating fish, so the fish are happy and we're happy.)

@JudyEv It's how she's fished since she was about 5 years old. I guess the fish she catches might not have as much fun as she does, but I'd rather she bother them instead of me and they get a bite to eat.

I have never tried fishing. This picture relaxes me. I can feel that touch of water on my feet and the soothing sounds that waves make

@JudyEv Yes, he does. We are traveling to Chennai, a nearby coastal city this Tuesday for some important work. Hope we get some time to visit the sea and listen to the waves. Have not been to the beaches since the pandemic.

That sounds lovely. You have a 5-bed, 5-bath holiday house? Wow!

Its an upbeat relaxation picture when I look at it.
The area that we used to travel to when we were children to stay in a cabin and swim and hike over the course of a week's time with our parents, is now multi-million dollar homes. Its sad, because those areas should be enjoyed by all not just the wealthy. My hubby and I travelled to that same area after our wedding when we took our honeymoon.

@JudyEv Here they used to have basic resorts, which were a cluster of little cottages/cabins on the lakeside. You could choose basic ones that you had to bring all of your linens and cookware, or you could choose something a bit higher up that all you were required to bring was your own food and clothing, or you could stay at a place that had a main lodge that offered meals. They often had community rooms where you could go and play darts or cards on a rainy day, or take a boat out to fish on the lake or water ski and always there was a campfire area for nightly gatherings.

My husband says he loves fishing...but he gets frustrated very quickly if he doesn't catch anything. I keep telling him he doesn't like fishing, he likes catching fish!

A lot of places are now "all very fancy houses" or highrises. 'There' isn't there anymore.
