My neighbor has this all out war against mosquitoes. This time of the day, she would be on her backyard sweeping dried leaves and burning them to drive mosquitoes away. I think it’s okay as long as she doesn’t burn plastic trash and stuff? And she buys mosquito coils from my store all the time. She said she uses it at night to keep pesky mosquitoes away while they’re sleeping. I know some of you don’t have mosquito problems so you might not be familiar with the photo above. And boy,
you’re lucky.

I've seen those for sale here but have never used them. We use electronic devices that make a sound like male mosquitoes to keep female mosquitoes away from us. They work quite well. (I have one plugged into an outlet in the ceiling of our front porch that points down. It keeps mosquitoes away from our front door which is the only way they can get into our house.)

@sol_cee It makes a sound like the flapping of the wings of the male mosquitoes. But people can barely hear it. It's a very quiet purring sound.
There are different articles online... some claim the sound keeps female mosquitoes away and other articles say the sound doesn't work. I know it does work... We've used them for years.

I had not seen this one, but I Had seen a lot of different contraptions for mosquitoes.
Luckily we don't have a problem with them in this climate of Colorado.

@sol_cee Then why are you selling rice, toyo, canned goods, etc. - you're competing with fellow Filipinos.

I am having flashbacks from my childhood . . . I don't remember exactly but I think my parents may have used these! I didn't realize these still existed! There are mosquitos here for sure . . . I hate them. They like to bite me if I go outside early in the morning on warm days or when it starts to get dark . . . mostly on the legs. Daikirai!

we have a store and we sell sugar in retail (1/4 kg,1/2kg) so we always buy sacks of them. Turns out, ants always raid the sacks so I asked my husband what to do. He said to write ‘salt’ on the sack and the ants will surely leave it behind.

We used to buy this by piece. When we had extra money I tried 1 whole box. And today, when I had extra extra money, I bought the electric repeller

That is common in the Philippines especially if the house is not screened. We use this rechargeable one that looks like a tennis racket.

I have seen these but do not use them. I plant lemon scented plants to keep mosquitoes away, like Lemon Grass.

Back when Drive in movie theaters was populer here, a truck would come there and spray for mosquitoes. Finally thay put a stop to them using the spay, so the mosquitoes started getting real bad there. I remember us having to use the mosquito coils, my mother would sit it on the dash so we could sit in the car and watch the movie.

I find it funny (and interesting) that a famous doctor of the stars here (she does surgical operations to celebrities in the Philippines) doesn’t know what a mosquito coil is. In a YouTube vlog, she had a bedroom raid (they go inside the bedroom and talk about what they see) and there was a mosquito coil. When she was asked what that was, she said she didn’t know. She’s clueless how to use it. She’s a doctor but there’s stuff she doesn’t know. That’s life, alright

We don't get mosquitos really badly, but I have seen coils, candles, and lanterns that keep them away. I usually use a spray called OFF!
