Spreading Democracy But Blocking Russia Today?

Mainstream media is propaganda, so I figure I might as well hear from all sides (and more), but YouTube banned RT and Sputnik. If the argument is over "democracy", why would you (yes, a "private" corporation - I know The Constitution) ban any kind of information? I know they have about the protections they are afforded since they are not public utilities, but it defeats the spirit; the spirit of the freedom of speech. It's the 1st amendment for a reason. If they lie, you can sue them for libel/slander. Maybe they only focus on the pros, and leave out the cons, but if you see enough sources, you hear all the pros/cons, and have a better grasp of what's being reported, but more importantly, I flip on channels for a few minutes each to see what millions of others are watching. The minute you ban something, the more interested people become, and it gives them an excuse to say, "See? See?"
As an aside, this is all about the in-group vs. the out-group. I remember many people in the same group that said, "Love it Or Leave It!" and "Start Your Own Corporation If You Don't Like It" who criticize the monopoly over social media... Remember, coercion can be appealing...... but what happens if it hurts "your side"?

What is RT?
There should be freedom of speech but YouTube doesn't seem to believe in it. Having said that, should Russia be banned? It's the government in Russia that's in the wrong, not the majority of the Russian people.

RT is Russia Today, and yes, I completely agree there should these very influential businesses should distinguish the people from the government. I'm sure Americans or people from the UK wouldn't want the same when it came to Iraq, etc etc..

@PinkFloydFan I see. Thank you very much for that. Yes, I agree. Ordinary Russian civilians shouldn't be banned. Official government accounts and military accounts are the ones that should be banned

Do you think there is really freedom of speech? As long as bloggers say that China has some positive information, they will be banned

With all these techs and businesses banning and leaving Russia, it is a scary thing. It means that everyone is in danger of being silenced or having their bank accounts seized if they have don't follow along with the collective.

I think the main reason for the ban is not to stifle information, but to send a message to Russia that they can't just invade a country , bomb up places including civilian homes and a hospital, kill hundreds of civilians and send millions fleeing their country.
