I have a persistent cough

I always have a cough due to my asthma. I've gotten many side-eyes over the past 2 years while out in public (wearing a mask) when people heard me cough. I just had to roll my eyes and go on with whatever I was doing.
This is a different cough. It isn't phlegmy but it is deeper and frequent. My throat is a little sore but I think it is just from the coughing. It isn't strep throat because that doesn't cause a cough and it causes much more pain.
I am sure I am disturbing my downstairs neighbor. I could hear her coughing when she had COVID. I feel fine aside from the coughing. I just wish I had some Tessalon capsules. They stop the cough reflex. We get into a coughing pattern that is difficult to get out of. The Tessalon stops that. That would require a trip to the doctor, though, and I am not in the mood to deal with that. Hopefully it will resolve itself soon.

I can relate to persistent cough. I've always had cough because of allergies. I have rhinitis and reactive airways. I have asthma too. Anything can trigger my cough from pollutants to too much heat and sweat to cold weather. I have long been wearing mask even before the pandemic started. I take antihistamines almost everyday to control symptoms and go on smoothly with my life. I hope you feel better soonest and that cough would go away.

You may have to go to the doctor if it doesn't stop. Hope you feel better soon. I get wracking coughs whenever I get sick. Hadn't heard of the Tessalon capsules before.
