What are those white round balls?

So the guests from Manila (my sister-in-law and her family) had their flight back home last Monday and everyone was tired. That’s partly because we celebrated my mother-in-law’s 60th birthday and we did it the countryside way. We slaughtered two huge pigs, one goat, some chickens and there was also a lechon baboy (roasted pig). Everyone had their task and days into the birthday party was spent on preparation, preparation, preparation. Unlike in the city where neighbors don’t come to your house to join the party unless you invite them, countryside style is totally different. Neighbors came in throngs, invited or not. But of course we anticipated it would happen so we prepared an eating area for them on the lawn with a gazebo tent complete with tables and chairs. It was crazy? But also super fun. On their last day here, my SIL cooked her specialty dish using leftover meat and stuff. Photo above is of the dish.

Those white balls look like hard boiled quail eggs to me. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves... even though you forgot to invite me.

I agree with the statements below. The round white things look like quail eggs. Glad you all had a wonderful time with neighbors! Sounds like a great celebration!

oh yes, that is indeed countryside hospitality when there are gatherings the whole community is invited to come and join the party. Looks like your party was a success that you were tired after the party. But I am sure it was fun and enjoyed the gathering.

That's how it is in the province. I love quail eggs. They're my favorite from the first time I tried it when I was but a kid. I remember it wasn't even sold here back then. Every time my father went on a business trip in Bacolod, he'd come home with that egg because he knew it was my favorite.
